Hi from Lithuania. Nice channel! Can you tell me what size of rods would be good with this reel?

This is suited for perch, bass or other fish the same size. So typically any rod from 6’6”-7’6” will work. Casting weight up to 30g / 2oz.

I'm contemplating buying a SLX 151 XT, probably the newer A model, to use for my perch fishing and lighter 15-60g pike fishing, when they only want real small baits. Plenty of perch fisherman's hook up on large pike, so I'm thinking 151 is the best size for me. Won't throw under 10g even for perch so no need for BFS capabilities. Latest gen Revo reels are also 150 sized and work Really really great for perch and light pike fishing too. Had an X on a 30-85g jerkbaitrod, worked wonders. I'm interested in seeing the difference in Shimano VS Abu in 150 size, for roughy the same amount of money.

Follow up question, anybody know why ABU are charging so much for their gear? Specially for pike fishing, but to get Prorex X level of rod, I payed 1050sek for, would be a Beast Pro rod at +3000sek. Same with the beast reel, it has a really high retail price for what you get. Will be interesting to see the new Revo Beast reel, when it comes sometime soon. Might pick up a current gen Beast reel then, when they are sold out. I think the new one may not have dual supported pinion gear and such as the competition has, I guess it might be just a minor update in looks, rather than performance. I hope it has things like daiwa and Shimano has, but I'm kinda doubting that as Doyo is where ABU has their reels made. New gen Revo with assymetric frame is designed/engineers by ABU Japan I heard from someone with insight in those things.

We haven’t fished the SLX for pike but we used the Curado 150 MGL, and worked fine for those smaller pike lures. Just make sure the reel has brass gear, otherwise those gears will be toast quickly.
