I recently bought myself a new Stella SW5000HG right before Christmas. I’ve unboxed it and that’s it. Haven’t even spilled it up yet. So anyhow, as I’m sitting doin nothin around I’ll pick it up every once in a while and play with it. Yesterday I was just checking things out on it and noticed something with the handle movement. So at a complete stop no matter what the position of the handle from 12am to 12pm if I ever so slightly go to turn the reel handle there is a certain amount of play before the rotor spins. And I can also feel it as I’m turning the handle as well. I thought the handle was loose, or the power knob was loose causing this Almost clicking sensation. Or maybe I should say lack of tolerance, not sure. It’s kinda hard to explain. I think some of you hardcore REEL guys out here will probably understand what I’m saying better than most as it’s ever so slight but noticeable. Honestly I don’t really feel anything like this in my Stradic Fl 4000 or 5000 or my Diawa Back bay 4000. If I hold the rotor on both maybe a little. But that’s why I saved up a grand for this reel and expected To have that oooooo la la sensation. It does feel amazing let me say, but It’s really annoying to me and for the amount of money I spent and it being BRAND spanking new!!! I kinda demand it to be perfect in all that it claims. 1. Is this right what I’m feeling. (Am I expecting to much?) 2. Is there anything anybody knows about this? 3. if not right, is it a shim issue maybe, and should I send it back or stab at it myself.

I know how you feel, probably should of tested it when you purchased it All my Shimano reel have a slight play in the handle, less than 1mm play If it's more than that i would take it back to where you purchased otherwise test it on the water

Great video!! After degreasing that rusted bearing if you had soaked in oil am sure would have spun ok but as it turns out you had a spare anyway. I have the newer Stella SW with composite one way bearing, some people prefer the older metal one but i like the ease of the newer composite one...no dropping disasters :)

@ShorrockPaul thanks mate, your welcome 👍 Was going to soak in wd40 but being a stella better off replacing

Perfectly done!!! What would happen if you dont put in the metal part that you hold at 28:50 ? I guess its part od the reverse clutch sealing ?

Thanks mate I'm sure the reel won't work properly, best put all parts back as they were to preform 100%

Hi, I followed your step, after reassemble, my reel spin in both ways. May I ask how can I fix it?
@hkeepingitreel74415 ай бұрын
This would more than likely be something to do with the one way bearing I would remove the rotor down to the one way bearing, check and double check all parts are in correctly in order, open the schematics to cross check each process Make sure there is no oil or grease on the one way bearing, this will also cause the bearing to slip Hope this helps

There are two dimples on the rotor face, any idea what those are for. can see them at 33:13 at the 3 to 4 O'clock position

@ShorrockPaul I'm not sure if your talking about the rotor nut cover screw holes, other then that I can see anything else

Great vid mate. What's that tool you're spinning the bearings on? Been looking for something like that.
@hkeepingitreel74417 ай бұрын
Thanks mate It's a testing and measuring tool for rc bearing, great to use, you can find them online ebay or rc hobby shops etc Search Rc bearing tool

I have a 2023 Stella 5000xg sw and it cranks backwards allot when fishing, it seems the anti reverse is slipping. What do I look for when looking at the anti reverse? Or should I look at any other part?
@hkeepingitreel74414 ай бұрын
That's more than likely your anti reverse bearing Make sure no grease or oil on it, clean up, & test, otherwise might need replacing anti reverse bearing
