Regarding the TX5 vs TX7 they are slightly different blanks and finish - I believe the TX7 has a faster blank. The Power Aero are a more premium reel with some improvements over the Ultegra Ci4+ 14000 reels

Hi I've just brought these and also brought the fox tapered mainline 12lb to 35lb. Comes in 300m any suggestions too what spool reducer to use to potentially not use any or little backing

I've just loaded mine using the 10'000 spool reducer - they will take roughly 300m of 0.40mm mono. The smaller 5500 model is rated to take 390m of 0.30mm line, so I suspect the 6000 spool will be similar. As far as I'm aware the 3500 reducers are typically designed for braid users, so this may be significantly less. I would therefore suggest trialing the 6000 reducer first.

Had mine 2yrs with faultless reliability apart from bending a bail arm witch was my fault was a easy fix 👍

Hi there, the rod in the video is an old Avid model. However these reels would be well suited to most carp rods available on the market.

I had some of the xtd 5500 and the clutches felt plastic cheap & nasty I got rid of them, have these ci4's got a a nice feel to the clutch?

Hi Innocent Bystander, the Ci4+ reel is a much improved reel over the standard XTD, with a faster and smoother drag

Hi Barca Barca, these reels are within both the carp and surf range of reels from Shimano. The reel is protected according to Shimano's latest innovation X-Protect which protects the reel's inner parts against intrusion from water and dirt. If you look after the reels properly, you should have no issues with saltwater use

Worst reels I have ever owned. The line consistently getting stuck underneath and the line guard kept popping out. They look amazing but the line guide is a known issue so I am led to believe.

Hi Michael, do you own the Ci4+ models? I've never had this issue personally and don't know anyone that has had issues with the Ci4+ model or Power Aeros which are a very similar design. This may be more of an issue with line twist due to how you are loading the reels?

@@totalcarpmagazine I am sure you didn't mean it to sound patronising about loading line on to a reels. I have loaded more spools over 20 years than I care to mention. This was my personal experience and others have mentioned the guard issues below. I am a Shimano fan, original long cast, XSD's and I am happy to report no problems with any of those reels.

@@michaelianson592 Hi Michael, no not trying to be patronising at all. I'm sure you know that many people will be quick to blame a product when its usually user error that is the problem. As I mentioned, I've not personally heard of anyone having this issue despite having worked with a number of people who've use these reels.
