The Shimano Vanford is to say the least FANTASTIC! How could Shimano make a reel be better than the Stradic CI4+? Well in this video I do my best to break down how they have made this reel better!

The handle mostly. I'm a huge fan of the smaller handle and don't need the extra line capacity!

Unfortunately only time will tell if sail carries them any time soon. The demand for these are high and Sail usually is late to the ball at bringing in stock. But hopefully in the future!

when i do the “spin test” you were talking about it really doesn’t do well which is weird. It’s about 4 seconds compared to the fl having like 8 seconds. is this normal and do you think it’s just because the fl is just heavier?

It is normal! If its brand new, the Vanford will be tight and due to the lighter rotor that energy will disperse faster, the FL has more weight that continues to propel it. Hope that helps.

Definitely can be! Wash it well. It’s an awesome reel and feels almost as good as the FL

What i mean by that is the FL feels more solid. But the Vanford is a nice light inshore reel.

Oh yes! Thats likely due to the fact that it’s already implemented in every reel the Sedona pretty much. Its almost a feature to have the anti reverse at this point haha

It is sealed but it is not a saltwater reel. Look into the shimano saltwater reels such as the twin power 👊🏼

Not at all I doubt you’ll have issues even if you don’t wash it down. As long as you take good care of it there is 0 chance you have issues. I’ve used the Nasci which is the lowest priced sealed reel in the shimano lineup and I’ve had no issues with it in the salt. The Vanford will be such a dream light setup for inshore stuff. Enjoy it!

I have both I love both I have taken care of the CI4+ I will take care of the Vanford These reels are so gorgeous ✌️ And you’re right, they’re too pretty to use, I almost just want to keep them as display 😂

@@alchemistlee5882 The Vanford has the taller spool and a 5000 size. But still I wouldn’t choose one over another, they both look sharp and feels powerful (like evil Ninjas 😂), and you’ll love the drag sound....

Go out and fish with these Vanfords you will soon see they are no smoother than previous stradic s after a few sessions. While they look nice and have better sealing in regards to water getting inside the reel the micro module gearing is marketing hype and does not make the reel smoother. They all feel good in the shop.

They are definitely smoother overall and the drag system has much improved as well.
