Can you kindly give me one single source of your fanciful claim of Uttarakhand apples being the best in quality. As far as the highest quality apples produced in India itself are concerned, a comparison is typically made between Kashmiri and Himachali apples only. Uttarakhand apples as a whole nowhere find special mention of being the finest quality (select few varieties, maybe). Uttarakhand isn't as widely known for apple cultivation as are Kashmir and Himachal. There are tens of apple varieties grown in Himachal including foreign and native ones. Himachali apples sold on large commercial scale mostly belong to the well known global varieties like red/ golden/royal relicious, red gold, gale gala, super chief etc. and are generally considered to be of high quality and great taste. The late season royal delicious apple variety grown in the high altitude regions of Kinnaur is separately marketed as "Kinnauri Apples" and is specially known across the country for it's flavor, large size, colour and longer shelf-life; so much that it's arrival in the markets is always awaited. To the best of my knowledge, the highest quality apples of Uttarakhand also belong to the foreign varieties some of which are mentioned above but their production is much lesser than that in Himachal. The point is that neither all Uttarakhand apples are of highest quality nor the high quality apples are only found in Uttarakhand. Himachali dealers don't need to go about searching for high quality apple varieties specially to Uttarakhand when Himachal itself produces far more quantity of them. Buying apple produce from UK and marketing them as "Himachali Apples" (as you allege) is just a matter of business for the Himachali dealers as is selling their produce to the latter for the UK apple farmers. The UK farmers are certainly not being forced or tricked by Himachali dealers to sell their produce to them.
