Kinnaur is one of the twelve administrative districts of the state of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The district is divided into three administrative areas - Pooh, Kalpa, and Nichar (Bhabanagar), and has six tehsils . The administrative headquarters of the district at Reckong Peo. The mountain peak of Kinnaur Kailash in Kinnaur district. Kinnaur is the second least populous district of Himachal Pradesh (out of 12 districts), after Lahaul and Spiti. Kinnaur surrounded by the Tibet to the east, in the northeast corner of Himachal Pradesh, about 225 kms from Shimla is a tremendously beautiful district having the three high mountains ranges i.e. Zanskar, Greater Himalayas and Dhauladhar, enclosing valleys of Sutlej, Spiti, Baspa and their tributaries. All the valleys are strikingly beautiful. The slopes are covered with thick wood, orchards, fields and picturesque hamlets. The much religious Shivlinga lies at the peak of Kinner Kailash mountain.

Used to live in Wangtu 93-94 during dam construction. Roads have improved a lot since than. Wangtoo was inner line in those days but relaxed due to dam construction work at Nathpa. Ahead of Wangtoo bridge over Satluj from Karcham on word road is & was quite challenging . Particularly Sangla side road was DANGEROUS. But improved road has reduced travel time. Used to travel in HPSRTC buses. Thanks for posting.

Sir, the road condition from Shimla to Rekong Peo is very good. This is a border area. In this case, you will not have any problem on this route all year. But the surrounding road along it can cause problems due to snow in the winter season. There is no toll tax on this route in Himachal.

सर यह रास्ता बहुत ही छोटा है। यहां से एक गाड़ी ही निकल पाती है। यहां सामने से कोई वाहन आने पर काफी दिक्कत होती है। मेरा एक ही सुझाव रहता है कि इस रास्ते पर वे लोग वाहन न चलाएं जिन्हें पहाड़ में गाड़ी चलाने का अनुभव न हो और सुसाइड पॉइंट वाले इस रास्ते पर वे लोग गाड़ी लेकर ना जाए जिन्हें ऊंचाई से डर लगता है। मेरे निजी अनुभव में सुसाइड पॉइंट वाला रास्ता बेहद खतरनाक है।

Suicide Point Road is 3 kilometers from Kalpa. When you reach Recangpo or Kalpa, you can easily go to Suicide Point Road.

This seems to be possible. But it will be a very long way. The distance from Shimla to Nako Lake is 312 km. Due to the road in the mountain, this journey is very long. Secondly, this journey depends on the weather. In such situation, my suggestion that in one day you travel only to Recong peo/Kalpa....and next morning u go to Nako.
