I was in the audience when I attended one of his shows back when it was still at the Mirage in Vegas. He either started or ended his show with this very trick !!!

Penn and Teller did this trick on the Tonight show roughly 8 years ago, but the tearing and shuffling procedure was very different from what Shin Lim did, and I expect was different when you saw them, even though the end is the same.

Because I didn’t want to rip 4 of my cards I actually did this with 8 cards except making sure I had 2 cards that were the same and simulated the ripping and placing them on top of the cards, AND IT STILL WORKED!!😂😂

The Jack's are planted people. He picked the first 3 on his own, saw where the 4th was and stopped there, no matter when she said stop. That's why you riffle and don't let them choose. The rest of the trick is all math. He is the best of the best today though. Maybe only David Blaine and a few others are as smooth and convincing as him.
