I can't get over this. The entire Giant Robot turns itself into a fist to punch somebody. Words can not do justice to the levels of insane GAR-ness that is this attack. Gundams weep with envy, Transformers curl up into fetal positions at the sight of it, and Megazords avert their eyes lest they burn out upon witnessing its majesty. Even the Gurenn Lagan and the Steel Jeegs salute this most manly and impractical of attacks.

Its mainly because this series was purely a 'just for fun' series by the author, Yasuhiro Imagawa, I remember reading in an article recently (1-2 months back) that if he was going to continue the series, he would've wanted to add in Great Mazinger and Grendizer as well... which would tell us that it would be a pretty long series... tl:dr - this series is just for funies and author does not have any plans to continue for now

I gotta say I did not see this coming Mazinger Z transforming into a gigantic rocket punch I mean I gotta say it was affective but apparently Koji's Grandfather Dr. Kabuto has gone off the deep end but I think he already went off the deep end when he built Mazinger Z and later Mazinkaiser because of the animation for this series looks like it's in the Mazinkaiser Universe with the way Koji acts in this series and the way Dr. Kabuto looks with that left eye of his.

which is precisely why the manga runs in a shonen magazine (unlike other once-shonen Nagai properties which now run in seinen magazines BECAUSE THEY'RE AIMED AT OLDER FANS) there wasn't much of a "catch" behind episode 1; they were probably just having budget issues and wanted to churn something out quickly. it was kind of like Gurren Lagann's prologue right down to the fact that they ended up changing their minds about certain scenes.

it reminds me of the WW2 german antitank weapon wich was named "panzerfaust" wich transleated means "armored fist". now, japanese and germans were allied in WW2, dr.Hell is german (even if he's the antagonist) and the most powerful mazinger is called "Mazinkaiser". it aired at 8 PM IIRC which isn't much of an ADULT ONLY time slot, and as far as I know TV Tokyo isn't one of those on-demand otaku channels. old fans were undoubtedly a good chunk of the target audience and they most likely didn't expect the show to become as successful as it did (hence the low animation budget), but I honestly doubt it was meant to be a nostalgiafag-only series and that they had no intentions of bringing in any new fans. see my earlier point about the manga being shonen.
