The Persona series (3 to 5) is a heavily simplified SMT spinoff series that focuses on character relationships. Nah I dont agree. If the difficulty is "artificial" difficulty, that is something that absolutely should be called out. Which alot of the MT games are guilty of. Challenge should come from being outwitted by the enemies you come across. Have as many kinds of demon coverage as possible and at times make due with what you have. Nobody generally is bothered by that. Devil Survivor for the most part does this fantastically and is my favorite MegaTen game. But frequent enemy encounter rates that are determined by RNG and sudden enemy ambushes that attack 1st (sometimes RIGHT WHEN YOU ARE NEAR A SAVE POINT) arent hard. They are cheap and annoying. Dont even get me started with dungeons that have bad pacing or gimckey nonsense that makes or tedious, such as dark dungeons or floor traps that require alot of trial and error. I'm looking at you Nocturne. I say this as someone who has played alot, alot, alot of MT up to now and finished some of them. Which includes DDS1, SJR, SMT 4, SMT4A, Nocturne original and HD, Persona 3 to 5, DS1 and Overclocked, (soon DS2) SMT1 (that game and SMT2 to MT1 to 2 are awful it hasnt aged well sorry not sorry fans of those games) So I like to think it's fair to comment on MT bs, at least I think my POV is valid. So u need to play in the post apocalypse dungeon for 10 to 15 hour before the next plot-point back to reality stuff? Damm, that kinda long tbh. Or i am just soo used up to the way persona series pace.
@BenDufault3 жыл бұрын
Pacing in SMT games are much different. Persona 5 specifically moves briskly between points A and B. SMT is more about the vibe and the grind of becoming "more powerful". The plot is there, but it is spread out. Honestly, it sounds like this game is similar to Breath of the Wild in terms of pacing. You can probably move faster through some zones if you are prepped, but the game wants you to explore and spend time outside of the story so you can make you own "story". Hope that helps!

Much like every other game spot review, it feels like the reviewer isn't familiar at all with the series. 50 hours with the game, how many hours with the series? The review was very hard to listen to, because besides a graphical upgrade and new creatures, 99% of this sounds exactly like Apocalypse, which is fine, but feels like a lot of the points of this game aren't new features. To be clear, I think Apocalypse is awesome, but the review feels like there isn't much to say about everything that's new in 5... So either you like the atmosphere, or you don't is whether you'll like 5 vs the prior iterations? Only shows the desert area, so the review's weird. edit: Editor explained why the review only has the desert area, thanks!

@Gure_Shimo3 жыл бұрын
You are a little off there. I can hear opinions from anyone. But reviews like these, are supposed to be as objective as possible, so it could be used as reference towards a purchase decision. What would be the point of it, if it's just a nobody's opinion? In anycase, it's a pretty decent review, for someone that seems inexperienced in the franchise, unlike IGN's.
@LegateSprinkles3 жыл бұрын
@@Gure_Shimo Also you can use IGN's different view. Opposing against the grain reviews aren't bad. If there was a reviewer who fucking DESPISED Dark Souls whether be difficulty or setting or controls and then you see them GUSH about say Bloodborne or The Surge well itd be pretty worthwhile to know what was it that seems to change their opinion on a similar type of game.

@@Gure_Shimo Persona is the more popular series and P5 attracted a whole new casual JRPG playerbase. You shouldn't compare SMT to Persona at every second in your review, sure, but it should be made clear to that more casual audience that they should NOT expect that type of experience despite these games having similar combat and monster fusion mechanics. Some people watch reviews to make a more informed purchase instead of just seeking validation for a decision they already made.
@justinianthe1st7903 жыл бұрын
@@Scoreos77 Seriously the combat is literally similar as shit. How can you not compare it? It especially makes sense because (and idc how many SMT and MT fans get mad at this) persona will probably always be more popular than SMT and other spin-offs so its important to mention it, especially if they never played SMT or any other MT game. Comparing the two is more than okay. It just depends on how you do it. Yes dont reference P5 every 2 seconds, but dont get mad if it gets mentioned in the first couple seconds or even in general. Sure mention the mainline series in general and (probably) more than p5, cause smtv is building off of of smt. But it will always be objectively dumb to mald at the mere mention of P5.

Geez, guys, give Tamoor Hussain a freaking break! Every time you guys have a shite review, it seems you try to tank it with Tamoor's nice vocals xD The review itself is not liked, I believe, because you cannot take from the game's quality or "goodness" because it's just "too hard" or "too long" at times; these are elements that have become staples within the series and, to some peoples' chagrin as made apparent in this review, what makes SMT games good, in terms of atmosphere and immersion. I disagree with an 8/10 if those are the main cons for the overall score, but I believe the review itself wasn't as bad, albeit bad enough to warrant yet another Piccolo-style sacrifice by Tamoor when the inevitable hate storm arrives.
@acidrain923 жыл бұрын
IMO Something bad, like a game being too long or unnecessarily difficult, does not become a "staple" or a "beloved feature" just because those are criticisms of every game in the series.
@UnbeknownstMan3 жыл бұрын
@@acidrain92 But that's the point, they're not bad things on their own in this case, is what I'm saying. The game is not unnecessarily difficult nor does it take "too long" to complete just for the sake of it. Rarely you'll find someone complaining that Dark Souls is bad because of its difficulty, it's just different learning curves that are characteristic within each franchise is all.
