I am Dutch and I can say that it is a team (Kluivert-Landzaat-Pastoor) that replaces STY. Kluivert is the face of the team, and with his status he can attract better diaspora players from the European leagues. But as Kluivert said, the Indonesian players are the heart of the team and new young Indonesian talents must also be attracted. Indonesian here 🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨 Lemme explain. STY has been losing the locker room for quite a while now. Down to the point that the players held a secret meeting without him. Remember 2018 WC when Messi led Argentina to meetings without Sampaoli, then they started to play better? It's exactly like that. Why now?? Because they've been wanting to sack him for a while, but the schedule was too tight, we had games throughout November and also December. The only window they have is now, after the holidays break. So the new coach will have approx 2.5 months to prepare before we face Australia in March. Why sack such a good coach?? Apparently, STY is quite unlikeable as a manager. You know, like Capello who was too strict, or Benitez who's kinda weird, STY doesn't take no for an answer, and never bothered to explain about his decisions. His words are final, nobody questions them. It doesn't sit well with some players, and obviously with our Footballing Committee. But he's such a good coach!! Yes, and no. He did won games and get our FIFA ranking up, but it's not solely because of his tactical brilliance. We've been acquiring new and better players from abroad, THEY'RE the ones who won games. Think of it like the old PSG: the coach doesn't matter that much if you have Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe on the same team. It's them who won the games. And one other thing: we didn't always do great because we actually won games. We're also very lucky under STY, two times we got qualified because of results from other matches. And lastly... as we all know, we live during this "korean invasion", k-pop music, boybands and girlbands, korean food, makeup, clothing, etc. Words on the street are, STY is influential enough to be considered as an ambassador for korean culture. This sacking is giving STY and the Koreans a bad name, so there are "movements" out there trying to blame anyone but STY, white knighting him, y'all already know how crazy those k-pop fans are when it comes to internet war. including paid influencers to praise STY. So i would be very careful. All in all, most of the Indonesian footballing crowds already understand the reasons for his sacking, we sincerely thank coach STY for everything he did for us, and we'll continue to support our national team, regardless of the coach. Indonesia? I think you meant to say the Netherlands B or C team. They only have one player, (possibly) Born in Indonesia, in the starting XI, while the rest are Dutch born. Even those with Indonesian heritage didn’t care much about Indonesia until they were recruited by the national team. They barely speak the language and hardly engage with Indonesian culture. Even if Indonesia qualified for the World Cup, it would be a complete embarrassment for native Indonesians on the world stage. From what I heard, after the match against Bahrain, there were 3 players who came to STY regarding tactics that they felt were not working. The three players were Jay Idzes, Thom Haye, and Sandy Walsh. Well, the problem starts here. Koreans really prioritize seniority, they feel they are the most correct and should not be criticized by juniors (in this case the players). While European culture is commonplace for discussions between players and coaches. Here, STY felt that this kind of discussion belittled him. It was really anti-criticism. The impact was the match against China, where Jay Idzes' captain's armband was removed and given to Asnawi, while Thom and Sandy were not starters. Maybe this was heard directly by PSSI and immediately held an evaluation after the match against China. Apart from that, it seems that there are indeed some players who indirectly stated about the discomfort of the 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation that they played. In addition, since childhood they were always taught to play 4-3-3 by the KNVB in the Netherlands and an attacking formation. So when they were given tactics that they were not used to, they still did their best even though it was uncomfortable. For me, here is one of STY's bad things, he made a tactical and formation and all players had to follow it, instead of making a formation that was in accordance with the capacity and comfort of his players. So it is not surprising that recently there have been many protests about STY's tactics from the players which are considered pragmatic and rely too much on individual skills, defending and looking for counters even though the opponent is weaker than Indonesia. That's why indonesia can't do anything in AFF, and sty always begs for overseas players to help. STY relies too much on abroad players And one more thing, living in Indonesia for 5 years but still can’t speak English or Indonesian. I lived in some countries and working with many different nationalities.You can't deny there's a big cultural gap between west Europeans and east Asians. Indonesian diasporas were born and raised in The Netherlands, more direct and equal between one and another. In East Asia, hierarchy culture is strong, you don't argue with your superior even you need to accept his invitations after working time to have some drinks otherwise you are labeled as disrespectful employee. Some journalists told there were some frictions between Indonesia diasporas and Shin Tae Yong after Bahrain match. Some players asked coach to have discussion about his tactics and Shin Tae Yong wasn't happy with this acts. Nothing wrong just different culture, it went well with local players but didn't work well with foreign born players.

At first I was also disappointed and couldn't understand the decision taken by the federation regarding STY. it would be unequal if STY was simply replaced with PK. with a track record and proof of achievements that have been made for the national team. but then I saw a little hope and revolution for a big progress where actually STY was not only replaced by one PK coach, but was added by 2 other people as technical director and physical trainer, Alex Pastor and denny landzaat. Here's the update for u guys, I think what Erick Thohir had in mind was it better to lose STY than losing the diaspora players. Bcs based on the rumors, there was some tactical dissagreement after the Bahrain match, and they (players) decided to discuss thing with STY, but unfortunately STY took it personally, and thought it was a disrespectful for him (I think it was a cultural thing where in Korea u need to respect anyone above you, idk). So they're having some heat there, and it lead to the game against China, which we didnt understand the starting line up back then, but if the rumors are true, it was bcs of this. After the China match, we knew what the result are, and before the game against Saudi Arabia, the players decided to have a meeting among themselves, no coach, no staff, just between them, (confirmed news by coach Nova) and we also knew what the results are. Those diaspora players are the assets, so if they lose them its over for Indonesia in this WCQ. And if they continue like this, there will be disharmonies between players and STY and it's bad for the future. Since STY contract originally would be over in 2027, which is still 2 years later. This naturalization program is for a long term, so they search for young ballers. With thing happend between Elkan Baggot and STY a year ago, it making sense that PSSI decided to let go STY as a coach. Its sad things happend this way, But I believe in Erick Thohir decision. I am Indonesian, and I can tell you that Indonesian FA (PSSI) has done Shin Tae Young (STY) dirty. Erick Thohir, PSSI's chairman wanted to sack STY immediately after he took charge, because STY is not part of his legacy (the South Korean was appointed by the previous chairman). To justify that, Erick kept giving him crazy targets, which STY overachieved every single one of them and getting more and more love from Indonesian football fans, even forced PSSI to extend his contract. Erick ended up appointing STY to lead an U-22 team to a regional tournament with zero preparation, fresh after the Saudi Arabia win. STY failed that tournament and give some kind of reason for Erick to sack STY.

Shin Taeyong was a dictator, bro. Some players actually didn’t like it. If any players had conflicts with him, he would sideline them - just like what happened with some players whose names were even removed from the squad list and were no longer called up to play for the national team. There’s a rumor (which is 99% true) that before the match against Saudi Arabia, some players held a meeting without the coaches to discuss tactics, which could be the reason why we won that game. The conflict reportedly started after the match against Bahrain and continued into the game against China. That’s why, in the match against China, Thom Haye only played in the second half and scored a goal, and why Eliano Reijnders didn’t play at all - his name wasn’t even included in the squad list. He plays in the Eredivisie, not in the Indonesian league, yet he wasn’t part of the squad, even though he had just been recruited. And if you watch a video where Thom Haye is standing on the sidelines, leading his teammates during the match against Saudi Arabia - just like Cristiano Ronaldo did at the Euros - that truly explains a lot. Regarding the coaching change, the Indonesian FA didn’t simply replace Shin Taeyong with Patrick Kluivert alone but with a coaching team consisting of Patrick Kluivert, Denny Landzaat, and Alex Pastore. We believe that what Erick Thohir, as the federation chairman, has done is a necessary step to address the internal issues within the team. We fully support the new coaching staff in leading the Indonesian national team to the World Cup.

there is a rumor that sty didnt want to talk or discuss the strategy with the key player (captain, senior player or something), the main thing is sty cant "win" the locker room, idk if this issue true or not, but a lot of top indonesian pundit talks about this rumors. If the rumors right, i think this is the way that fedration takes to fix the problem, also maybe because a lot of naturalitation player is in indonesian squad they have a dutch culture that didnt match with sty culture (asia), i think this is why sty cant "win" the locker room. This is just my assumption from rumor that i know.

The team beat Saudi because of The Captain Idzes lead the team meeting without the Coaches and they decided to play attacking instead of defending as STY's usual tactick and this was because of the "changing room" accident in Bahrain and more heating up after China match... Perhaps you sould understand this as the utmost crucial reason among other reasons.
