Shinano wasn't converted as an aircraft carrier full stop. They did consider that, but in the end it was designed as a support/repair carrier, similar to HMS Unicorn. So no, it wouldn't be carrying kamikazes necessarily, as it wouldn't be directed operating aircraft in the way traditional aircraft carriers do.

No, making Shinano literally a Full Fledged carrier is also not lore accurate. She is half baked Support Carrier that couldn’t even sustain her flooding.

@@tsuaririndoku I've already mentioned she was a support carrier, but the only reason she couldn't sustain her flooding was because she was incomplete. The Japanese thought the Americans might bomb her so tried to move her to a safer location, before her watertight doors were properly fitted. And the reason it was to be a support carrier was because Japan already had more carriers than they did trained pilots - plus the decision was made before they lost most of their carriers.

What a beautiful ship and an excellent video! I just hope War Gaming don't make a silly random bundle event for her meaning that you'll likely have to spend a ton for her. Just hope they keep it simple and make her available for steel perhaps a similar event to Lauria and Komissar.

I feel like aircraft hp in the 6th slot will be best for this ship. All of its aircraft want to get in close, and the IJN planes aren’t exactly known for having outstanding hp pools. Especially since unlike the HE skip bombs, the AP ones get less accurate the more they bounce.

Can you explain why they advertise her as a secondary carrier like Graf Zeppelin? Like it has only 4 turrets per side and its the not even the good 100mm ones but the shitty Shimakaze guns. Like the Sekiryu has 2x7(!) 100mm turrets that have 30mm pen, 1000m/s shellspeed, almost the same damage with 1700 at double the firerate aswell as the same accuracy bonus as GZ and 11km range with 11.9km concealment. And all that is just BARELY enough to defend yourself against a T10 Destroyer where as Graf Zeppelin smokes same tier DDs in a pipe. These 127mm turrets on the Shinano would literally have to have Yubari-style 100% accuracy at 11km to be even remotely useful because with that concealment a DD can just farm fires and floods from 12-13km and keep you permaspotted.

I'm not a 100% sure to be honest. Shinano is still very much in testing and subject to balancing changes so I'd prefer to wait until its in it's final state to comment more accurately

A tiny detail Wargaming missed in the armor model (1:34), Shinano was never designed with a 410mm armor belt in her battleship form. Shinano was to be built to a modified design compared to her sisters, as the 410mm armor on yamato and Musashi were thought to be Thicker then what they needed to be. Shinano was to be built with a flat 400mm or 15.7 inch main belt, but during her conversion, the only part of that 400mm Armor belt to be installed was next to where the main battery magazines were supposed to go (which is accurately shown in the in game model.) Its a small mistake, but otherwise its pretty good. P.S: I have Crippling Secondary builditis, and from my time secondary building Japanese battleships (especially my true love Yamato! ), those 127s are pretty flighty at longer rangers, so Shinano's Secondaries at long range can easily clear mountains, and with Graf zeppelin dispersion, it could prove deadly if enemy ships are not hugging that island with a passion, or those shells will bombard them from orbit.

Secondary numbers and power look lackluster only thing going for it is the armor tbh. Richtofen/immelman is better sec build then this ever will be

Shinano having a Fantasy AP Skip bomber itself is considered a crime. Heck even making Shinano effective in combat is basically an insult to actual Shinano IRL. Shinano herself is by far the worst Aircraft Carrier ever built due to how stupidly rushed that thing was. How bad was on her rushing conversion? She was so bad that Tiger P’s engine looks like a very reliable engine. On her construction, she wasn’t installed enough Water tight doors, her wiring work still hanging inside the ship. Her Main Battery Magazine storages still not being converted into extra Hanger space. Her Torpedo Protection wasn’t properly installed. And she was very unstable ship. The fact that she have to have a ship construction engineer on board to do some installations for her during her active duties. Worse than Prince Of Wales. I know if she is fully converted she would be called Super Aircraft Carrier that able to house Land Aircrafts. But this thing is so bad that 3 Torps from a Submarine can sink it. Even Captain on board telling the record that Shinano was hugely rush. Harder than Fallout 76 combined with Cyberpunk 2077 1000times over.
