I'd say for how foxs metagame has evolved since armada, this match up is in Fox's favor 60/40. Fox just has so many options I feel falco has to rely on a counter/bait/mindread game; which gives inconsistent results. what do u guys think?

No he hasn't. Mango and Mew2king have a very even record if you paid any attention. Mew2king struggles with more defensive players like Armada and to a large extent Hbox. To say Mango would have destroyed M2k is idiocy. You can speculate, and it probably would have been damn close, but to be certain he would have won is just incorrect.

i'm not even so sure it's about the crowd being all mango fans, it seems like everybody just felt kinda awkward because mango was clearly upset and stormed out. I think Falco fits the meta, it's just none of the falcos want to play the falco they need to be playing. (Think of the way mango played against Hbox as SSC, Lasering to force aproaches from long range, dash dancing at mid range. Add proper spacing and a westballz punish game and you have PPMD's Falco lol)

That shit literally happens since 2003 / 2004... Would you say falco wasn't fit in the meta at that time? Back air shine gimp on falco is one of the most basic setups as fox. Most top players and intermediate level players wouldn't fall for that anymore. What happened is that it is so rare for it to work at top level that mango didn't expect it so he double jumped. Props to sfat for going for it even when it's so rare for it to work nowadays at top level. lol

Okay, responses to stuff. Ben Watson I've got Plup primarily on him having 3 stellar characters, and the one in this top 8 going to game 5 with SFAT and Mango while also being less experienced at the national scale. mcBillyBobElliot HammarHeart Mango's really good when it comes to mixups, but throughout his career a lot of his options have simply been fundamentally unsafe. As players are getting better at using defensive tools decisively, and converting off of Falco's knockdown (or being below stage) he's going to just take a lot of damage when things don't work out. Early aerials, throwing out a second fsmash after missing the first one on a tech-chase- if they hit, things are probably fine, but people can just block and actually act out of block now. Mango's habit of drifting inward, even if only initially when doing an aerial out of a defensive position (like out of shield) was getting punished by Leffen over a year ago, and with Foxes able to shine OoS and convert off of it nowadays, he won't be able to just jump in and approach as comfortably as he used to be able to. The short version, as many mixups as Mango has, his longest running tools he's had, which that can still be usable if he's more careful, _require_ him to be far more careful now than they used to. The range of timings he can get away with on approach is narrower, out of shield wars are more frantic and less favorable to trying to get a hitbox out first with hopes for anything more than positioning. Mango being better than me doesn't matter much, I still understand this game and am capable of analyzing interactions. Mango is the most stubborn and generally least safe of any players in the top 6. Mango is more than capable of making the adjustments he needs to win, he knows what to do, and what to avoid. Attacking as Falco is harder and requires more discipline vs the modern Fox.
