6:23 is my all time favorite Floyd transition, from trippy blues to sly jazz. Pure genius.

Pink Floyd got my Dad through some very dark times. He and my mother were married and divorced twice. She was very mentally ill, not her fault, but we all suffered because of it. Thank you for sharing this great tune. So many more.

I always felt that when it comes to songs that Pink Floyd does like this they're more like pieces of music like Mozart or Beethoven instead of just a song or songs!! Following that thought I also think that Pink Floyd will be one of the few groups that survives the ages because of their unbelievably unique and fantastic music will be getting played a thousand years from now along with those other two little-known artists that of course I'm saying with tongue in cheek......... wonderful review!! Last thought or statement those high-pitch notes you really liked was David Gilmour ripping them out of a pedal steel guitar!!!

Pink Floyd is their own genre of music, nothing like them before or since. Master of sonic sounds, space, and time.

One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, and I love the little reference to their much earlier song 'See Emily Play' at the very end.

The instrument you couldn't identify is a "lap steel guitar". Watch a live version of "High Hopes" to see David Gilmour play a fantastic solo on that instrument. My favorite version is Live in Gdansk, which can be found on Gilmour's official YT channel.

Watch this version with tissues, especially the Live in Gdansk version. That solo at the end is just top tier Gilmour, and I can't hear it without ugly crying.

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far. Shine on you crazy diamond. Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there. Shine on you crazy diamond. And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, Sail on the steel breeze. Come on you boy child, you winner and loser, Come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine

Syd Barrett.... The "Crazy Diamond". The name Pink Floyd was created on the spur of a moment by Syd Barrett, when another band, also called the Tea Set, was to perform at one of their gigs. The name came from two blues musicians in Barrett's record collection; Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

Here's a couple of varied songs to check out...All different, all amazing "Dream On" (Aerosmith), "This is it" (Kenny Loggins), "True" (Spandau Ballet). A taste of the early 70s, late 70s and early 80s. Great reactions as usual.

great stuff. this song was about a member of the band that had mental and drug problems and went off the deep end he showed up when they were recording it, he wasnt recongnized righ away by the band.

Crazy thing about this song. Its about their founding member, Sid Barrett, who went crazy and had to leave the band. He's the "Crazy Diamond". They havent seen him in several years, and when they were in the studio recording this very song, he showed up. It was a real, uncomfortable situation for all of them.

Syd. The rest of the band didn’t even know who he was for about 45 minutes. Roger cried when David realized it was Syd and told him.

Part VI-IX is so underused, because you're always used to listen to Part I-V. But that's just a mistake, you should probably listen to I-IX for about 26 minutes... ;-)
