I feel your pain and I definitely understand where it comes from. I was the youngin that got bullied because I was different and had friends that didn’t” look like me “. I did my dances to work hard and not become the first school shooter in my area. Men go through a lot more physically, mentally and emotionally than they let on or show. As a fellow survivor, I’m glad you made it through and I’m proud of you.

As a former bullying victim, I gotta say this song speaks volumes to those going through bullying. It struck a nerve with me. I was actually bullied by my junior year English teacher who always roughed me up and said I would never amount to anything. I tried telling everyone i knew but no one believed me. Still I survived bullying from the most unlikely of individuals and I owe it all to this song. Now a message to anyone going through bullying right now: you may feel weak and powerless but deep down, you are strong and powerful. So stand up for yourself and prove those bullying you wrong.

"Push them to the dirt til the words don't hurt..." The first time I heard that line I just broke out in tears. It was weirdly surreal. I had this flash-back rolling through my mind like a television highlight blooper special. Not funny or comfortable but ackward and embarrassing. The pain, sadness, and insecurities given to me as a child and a teenage girl now felt so intense. I feel so incredibly sad for the innocent girl that I was but there is a new sense of pride. Proud because I'm still here and I have 2 fabulous self-confident, kind, loving, etc.. children I raised. Of course others helped in the raising of them but I'm their Mom. And now I'm a Gramma as well. I do have some mental health issues and the sadness is still there but it has to take turns with some happiness now. So... I win.

The line "no one's gonna die on the very day you die, you're a bully" is so damn cathartic it makes my chest swell up with such emotion. Wish I could've had the courage to use that line when I was young and weak. Bullying sucks and the wounds don't go away. We need to be told to fight back and make it clear to the bully that they are at the same level as everyone else. Unfortunately thanks to the school board were learning so much academic and so little life skills. The more a victim ignores it the more they silently suffer until they breakdown...school shootings, suicide etc.

And when I saw one of my old friends being pushed down to the dirt and being punched I decided ''He may be an asshole but none else is getting bullied on my watch.'' And I sprinted and pushed the bully away and got ontop of him and shouted into his face ''Are you done!?'' right into his face. After that I kept fighting back against the bully and I still do. Heard that bully!? I'm waiting for you! To this day I still deal with mental problems but its worth it to see my bully defeated once again.

I've told teachers and even the principal but nothing was ever done, I told my mom but she couldn't do much. Eventually it got so bad my mom had to pull me out of school. I went to a much better one about a year or 2 after and hadn't had any problems, could finish school and graduate in peace. "Protecting" kids from failure, and from rejection does far more damage than any bully ever could. Bullying is no worse now than it ever was. The reason it's become an issue is that today's kids have been so sheltered that they have no coping skills. Let's face it, my generation SUCKS at parenting.
@HoodieProduction11 жыл бұрын
There is so much wrong with what you just said.. There is a difference between a bully and someone you just dont get along with. Everyone dislikes and is disliked and thats a simple fact of life, a bully on the other hand is a psychological predator. They purposely seek out and torment people on a daily basis. And your right it might not look worse but its very different in the fact that its more psychological warfare and less physical abuse. It is less obvious and harder to catch and thats why people are starting to voice their opinions. Just like any generation you cant compare them to another and criticizethe difference, they are just too different.
@BrokeWinger11111 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, actually. Yes I can compare the generations, I happen to have experienced both and have a great point of reference for it.Did you think that by coping skills I only meant the ability to defend oneself physically? You make my point for me. Which is that the overprotected youth of today lacks the psychological strength and skill to deal with run of the mill bullying. Which contrary to popular belief is an intrinsic part of psychological development in children and young adults. The reality is that bullies haven't gotten any worse than they have ever been, their victims are just more fragile. The REAL problem isn't bullies, it's bad parenting.
@HoodieProduction11 жыл бұрын
Your basically justifying being a sociopath as being benficial part of society. The good and the bad, winning and losing are needed to grow up and mature but a bully is not apart of that equation. Bulling is an outlier and should not be tollerated on any level, adult or kid. It is pathetic and uncivilized and it does not belong in everyday life.
@BrokeWinger11111 жыл бұрын
***** Interesting tactic there, taking a basic statement and twisting it to the extreme of sociopathic proportions. I didn't think we were talking about grade school serial killers. Let's at least try to keep the conversation reasonable. Regardless of the opinion on whether bullying should exist or not, the fact is that it does. It IS an enduring part of life. As parents we have the obligation to condition and prepare our children to deal with it successfully. We fail them when we chose instead to try to shelter them from it. Think of it, if you will in these terms; everyone hates thieves. Everyone feels no one should steal. However we don't hide under our bed with our doors open allowing them to walk in a take whatever they want. Instead, we secure our belongs behind locked doors and alarm systems. Yet, instead of securing our children with coping skills and conditioning them to the harsh realities of the world we live in. We hide under the bed and deny the validity of the danger.
@HoodieProduction11 жыл бұрын
BrokeWinger111 As a person claiming to have valid point of view comming from different generations, I highly doubt you have even been exposed to a real bully considering your solution is to just deal with it. I have been on both sides and from my expeirence there is no "coping" with it. To simply "deal" with a situation is not fixing a situation, its prolonging it and making it worse. For the first time ever people have an idea that social problems such as bullying are actually very complicated. Yes sure the current solutions are not exactly ideal but neither are the oldschool solutions. Progress does not come without its failures.

For those who think this song causes fear of bullies, try listening to the lyrics again. It is from the point of view of those being bullied. It shows what the first emotion is, the first is the hell they are feeling and going through and what bullying COULD do. BUT the song also speaks directly to the bullies out there and shows those being bullied standing up for themselves. It is a song of encouragement for those going through this hell, not a tool of fear. It is a message to those who would bully of where they really stand in life as long as they remain the way they are.

I see all the comments about the bullied but as someone who WAS a bully, being humbled will really make you realize what you've been doing to others. Since middle school, I stand up to the bullies who take advantage of the weak and give them a taste of their own medicine

This song helps me deal with everything from being bullied everyday. I hate bullies, and sometimes I want to end it. But that's not the way to go, bullying needs to stop. So many deaths from bullying, all because people feel they need to be hateful. I know what it's like to be bullied, I have been for the past 6 years. Talking always helps, but this song is so meaningful

Talking never helped for me. Sounds like I've been through the same shit. My recommendation: shut it down. Go numb. I can't really explain it, but you can use it to make your mind sharp, and none of it bothers me any more. And learn how to fight, it'll serve you well for the rest of your life.

Everything about this song is amazing! Barry's drum work drives and pumps the heartbeat of the song while Zach's guitar work and Eric's bass line drives home how incredibly talented this group is and how lucky we as their fan base is to have our ears gifted with all this wrapped up as the foundation under Brent's golden pipes! I thought the world didn't need me. shinedown, seether, three days grace, and 10 years got me out of that mindset. kudos to them. and if you have that mindset, just know, that your not alone and people do love you.

i dedicate this to all those nasty fucks who made my high school life hell. thanks for truly helping me fuck myself up! I fought back and got myself in shit loads of trouble. I got a reputation as the girl who went round kicking people when she got angry with the harsh fucking shit they were saying. yes i had buck teeth but I COULDN'T HELP it. I hated my school. so i moved. on my last day i punched someone very hard because she asked for it and they sent me to another class... tried to i ran off and ended up down head of year before finding myself in tears because i felt like my life was such as mess. leaving that shit hole saved me. but because i hated school i regularly bunked and my grades suffered as did the quality of my work because i missed so much. thankfully i did ok in my exams and was so relieved when i left school. but now i have a lot of issues. i have a temper which i never had before i started getting bullied, i hate myself and have hardly any confidence. i get stressed and i just dropped out of college because i was under pressure and scared the same thing would happen. bullies dont realise the damage they do to people. they say sticks and stones may break my bones but words dont hurt. but that isnt true. words hurt more. so much more. SO DO ME A FAVOUR AND GO FUCK YOURSELVES BULLIES. NO ONE LIKES A BULLY.
