And they did it all while singing live the whole time. What you just experienced with SHINee's "Evil" performance is why they are referred to as CDnee or CD-eaters because SHINee live is 300 times better than their studio recordings. SHINee live is on a whole other level. This performance at SHINee's SWC3 in Seoul in 2014, just proves why they are legends. And this was only the opening set of songs, just imagine what the whole concert was like. Right before "Evil" they perform their song "Spoiler" and then after this, without even pausing, they perform "Nightmare," "Juliette" and then "Lucifer." And when they interact with the audience immediately after they don't even sound out of breath. They are legends for a reason and they have been doing it to that high of standard since debut. Even when SHINee were rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee rehearse on music programs because no one was singing live and pulling off extremely complex choreography flawlessly the way SHINee was doing it. SHINee sets the standard every time they step on stage and other artists are just trying to keep up. They are Idols' Idols and legends among legends. If you ask almost anyone in the industry today why they wanted to become a singer or dancer or what groups or artists they look up to, they will probably put SHINee in their top 3 or higher. Fun fact: SHINee were actually blind during that part of their "Evil" performance. I saw some behind the scenes footage once from a documentary of one of SHINee's concerts where a backup dancer or staff member actually took the blindfold and held it up to a light in front of the camera to show us that you can't see through it. SHINee are just that good, that they make it look like being blindfolded and dancing in sync is easy. :D You should really check out this full concert sometime. You will be even more floored when you see a full concert from beginning to end. Individual performances are impressive, but once you see the amount of energy they put into a whole concert you will be amazed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKPZaa2eqLerd7s. They only get more impressive as the concert goes on. Their vocal quality never wavers and they maintain this same energy and stamina from beginning to end.

All able-bodied native Korean males must serve 18 months in the military or conscripted public service before the age of, I think, 30. (They used to be required to serve a full 2 years before the age of 32, but a few years ago the South Korean government reduced the service time and age limit.) It's just a requirement as a Korean citizen. This is how they insure that they always have a fresh and ready group of soldiers. Technically, the Korean War is still going on, it has never actually ended. So although they currently have a truce with North Korea, South Korea needs to always be on alert and ready just in case North Korea decides to attack. So Korea's military is always active. All male Kpop stars who are native South Korean will take a hiatus at some point to serve their country, so we fans are left waiting for the members to return. Onew enlisted in the military in December 2018 and he was discharged in July 2020, Key enlisted in March 2019 and was discharged in October 2020 and Minho enlisted in April 2019 and was discharged in November 2O2O. Taemin is the last member to serve, and he just enlisted May 30, 2021, so he won't be back until November 2022. (SHINee's "Don't Call Me" comeback in February 2021 was in celebration for the fact that they were finally all back together as a group after 3 years. And Taemin's solo comeback with "Advice" May 18, 2021 was his farewell, as he prepared to enlist.) Kpop group members will hardly ever all enlist at the same time because while some of the members are on hiatus the other members need to continue activities in order to keep the group in the public eye. So, it was Taemin's job to represent SHINee while the other members were away, and now that they are all back, it's Taemin's turn to serve while Onew, Key and Minho represent the group. Plus, Taemin is 2-4 years younger than the other members of SHINee, so this gave him time to focus on his solo career and to participate in SuperM activities, etc. in 2019-20. And while in the military it is against the law for them to do anything except their military duties or whatever their public service job they are assigned to is. So Korean men are granted time off from their jobs or career to serve. Military service is actually looked at as a big honor, and although Idols are sad to have to leave fans and take a break from their careers, they embrace their service as a duty to their country and a right of passage. But most of the time entertainers are not just serving like a regular soldier, often they petition to be part of activities that keep them working in entertainment type jobs, such as acting in military themed musicals and plays, part of the military's marching band and/or orchestra, MCs and hosts for military events and programs, they perform as the entertainment for special military showcases, are athletes in military sanctioned sporting events ( i.e. soccer games), etc. Or they may petition to serve in government jobs such as a member of the police or other public service positions. For example, Onew was part of the military's promotional team so he starred in musicals along with other idols, actors and dancers who were also serving at the same time as him; Key was part of the military band so he spent his time as a percussionist, singer and MC as part of the entertainment for public events; and although Minho served in an elite branch of the marines, he even participated in a soccer match with other military athletes. Taemin is currently serving in a similar capacity as Key, where he is in the military band/orchestra. So, even while they are away serving, if you search KZbin, you can find fancam videos of most of them, where members of the public during special events have recorded the Idols as they are performing, etc. So we usually still get plenty of content from them, even when they are on hiatus. :D
