Actually they started this sound since their debut days. Long before nct existed. Shinee was originally formed to be an all rap hiphop r&b group before they changed the concept to a contemporary group. So for old shawols this sound in Shinee is not something new. The whole reason why they chose "Hard" for their title track is because they wanted to show everyone that SHINee can do any genre, including hip-hop. Although, just to make sure you didn't forget that this was a SHINee song, they couldn't just do straight hip-hop. They had to create this hybride mashup of pop, rock and retro hip-hop, etc. to give this song that SHINee flavor. They killed this!! This will definitely be a contender for album of the year. Exactly!! You can't tell me that you're not singing "hard like a criminal, hard like the beat, hard like ma flow ..." over and over again in your head after hearing this song. LOL We can definitely add this to SHINee's earworm song list. And the rest of the songs on the album are just as catchy. This is totally an SM/SHINee song. This was another song that was wrote by Kenzie, so it has that signature SM design, and, yet, it's also very uniquely SHINee. This is really just SHINee going back to their roots. As you may remember, before debut, SHINee was actually training to be a hip-hop group. However, as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag to pull off hip-hop full time, so last minute SM decided to change up their style to the contemporary R&B style of "Replay" that they have now become known for. "Hard" just proves that SM wasn't wrong, and SHINee has no problem in the world of hip-hop. But their destiny and calling was to be a group that never ties themselves down to just one style or genre. They were meant to show the world that they can be diverse and unique and never do the same thing twice. That's what makes SHINee special. They all can do everything. The rappers can fill in as main vocalists and the vocalists can rap. Plus, they are all amazing dancers. No wonder they still command the top spot in the industry even after 15 years. They know how to stay relevant, while creating the next trend, and still be true to what makes them one of the best in the industry. Preach man, PREACH!!! 100%. SHINee deserves all the accolades and recognition. Kpop wouldn't be Kpop without them. There's been a lot of debate whether "Hard" or "Juice" should be the lead/title track on SHINee''s Hard album -- SM wanted "Juice," to be the lead track, but the SHINee members insisting on "Hard." At this point, I think we all just need to trust SHINee knows what they are doing. Over the years, we have seen them prove time and time again that they know how to be one step ahead of the trend. For example, Jonghyun wanted his song "Deja Boo" to be his solo debut song, but SM insisted on his song "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)." And in the end, Jonghyun was right. "Deja Boo" became so popular as a b-side track that it had SM scrambling to find ways to showcase the song, proving Jonghyun knew what he was doing. And, "View" -- which is one of SHINee's most popular songs -- wasn't even a contender for SHINee's Odd album, until Jonghyun rewrote the lyrics and the members pushed SM to make it their lead track. In their recent reality show, Key, Minho and Taemin revealed that they all spent a lot of extra time making sure everything felt right with their Hard album. They wanted to release the album on May 25, the day of their 15th anniversary, but things needed work. For example, there was a section in "Hard" that needed some tweaking. So, instead of just rushing to get it done, they took the time to make it perfect. Key said that when they heard the final version of "Hard" -- which was sent to them while they were in Japan filming "The Feeling" MV -- his legs went numb and he knew "Hard" had to be their title track. LOL If you watch the full "SHINee's - 15m Roadtrip comeback show," you will get to see new performances of some of their classic hits, as well as a mini fan concert where they also perform their new songs, "Hard," "Juice" and "10X." And in between it all, you get to see Key, Minho and Taemin on a roadtrip camping excursion as they look back on their 15 year career. It was really fun. I encourage everyone to check it out. And to see them preparing for this comeback, watch Taemin and his manager Nam Eui Soo on The Manager TV show that aired last weekend. You will get to see all 4 of the members in the dance studio practicing the choreography for "Hard." They showed a preview/short version of their dance practice video on the show. Unfortunately, Onew is currently on hiatus due to his health. Therefore, he won't be participating in any of their comeback activities, including the 3 day opening of their SHINee World Concert VI (SWC6) in Seoul that they just held. It was announced June 9 when Onew was hospitalized for a short time that he would take a doctor recommended rest. You only saw him in part of the "Hard" MV because he went on hiatus in the middle of filming and wasn't able to participate in the rest of the shoot.

You need to hear SHINee's old discography cause Hard is their old discography with a modern twist on it. People only listen to tts and make an assumption. + SM was pushing for JUICE as title track but SHINee decided to go for Hard and they have made so many changes on this song. They got the final version after their desired changes and revisions when they were shooting for The Feeling MV.

Onew has health problems so he couldn't appear in the entire MV especially in the choreography parts. All the members can rap, the main ones are Minho and Key but they all can, in the Japanese song DxDxDx there are brief parts. Not for nothing do they have 15 years of experience, dominating all musical genres as always, styles and choreography 💎 Multi talented SHINee they can do everything 😎 Thanks for the reaction to my favorite group 💖

Some info from the pre-debut (2008) days. Shinee was going to be a rap group but it changed last minute with Jonghyun going into lead vocal. They all can rap. All 5 have pipes and can rap. Jonghyun did in is solo performances. They were SM’s experiment that took off. They as you know can do any kind of music. A contemporary group that can’t be put in any box. Remember all the groups you see today came from them knocking open the door. They did hip hop in there first concert years ago.

Taemin has always been wanting to do hip hop type of things since he joined 5HINee plus that's how he got noticed by SM was his hip-hop dancing. And Key is literally "feelin himself" since the choreographer works with Beyoncé too. And Onew was sick during this whole mv and didn't get to stay for the whole video shoot at the end. I'm glad he stuck it out though and hope he feels better too. Minho is another story he's been thuggish since the beginning if you've seen 5HINee older live performances the man literally rips his shirt off on stage.

JUPP, 5HINee is the ACE of kpop, and exceptional creative artists in their profession because they stay true to themselves. You have to listen to the whole album, it is simply splendid!! But about Taemin and rapping; he nails it perfectly whenever he goes for it. If you like to listen more of his rapping style, go for FAMOUS (japanese ), ADVICE ( where he uses his tone of voice in a very unique and distinguish way I have never heard before) , and "If I could tell you" (feat. Taeyang)-its a ballad, but he (and she) goes for some crazy fast rapping (even its a ballad)-fits perfectly. The song is simply beautiful. He can do it all!!

As far as I know, SM wanted Juice as the title track but Shinee fought Hard to hv it as the title track. That to me shows that Hard has already been selected for this album. It's not taken away from NCT. A nothing thing, if you've listened to Shinee's discography since their debut, you would have noticed that they have an eclectic selections of genres. What you hear in Hard is not unique to NCT. Just my 2 cents.

Shinee has definitely had many hard hitting hip hop tracks in their discography before, so I agree that this is really not new for them, and this kind of hip hop sound just happens to be popular right now, and NCT and SHINee both being SM groups with many of the same producers are going to have some recognizable similarities (like the way people were saying Superhuman sounded like a SHINee song lol). I see where people making the comparison are coming from and no one means it badly, I just think this kind of 90s style hip hop is currently trending and both NCT and SHINee now have done those sounds.
