I want to say thank you for appreciating Jonghyun’s caring personality through his communication skills in this video, despite not even knowing of his passing. It’s quite touching regardless. Definitely brought a smile to my face to hear good things about him, as he was such a sweet and kind soul. We will always remember him. Shinee will forever be 5

Taemin is actually the youngest which might contribute to him appearing as being a bit more energetic than the rest. Overall they definitely didn’t look like the wanted to be there. Love that Key didn’t try to fake any excitement, staying real with a little bit of sass in his facial expressions 🤣

Interestingly, Onew is actually the leader, but his personality is soft and he really just lets them do whatever, just observing the chaos with a smile. Taemin is their baby practically the whole kpop industry's baby😆

Onew, the leader, is probably the biggest introvert in the group. New reactioners for SHINee almost always have this sense that they got nothing from Onew. IMO, he's probably the most guarded amongst the members. But instead of coldness or being abrasive, he keeps people at a distance using humour or politeness. So when he shuts down interviewers it doesn't feel like they were just denied entry. I've seen him deflect questions about personal life and future solo projects using jokes and leading the conversation on a different path away from the original question. Instead of high stone walls and barb wires, Onew's defences are made of cotton, bouncing intruders away.

This has to be one of the _cutest_ and most accurate comparison of Jinki's introverted & shy psyche. He can be hella shy & prefer to stick to himself, but he will never, *ever* be mean or rude about it. Our bunny just enjoys his quite pace & lets the other 4 be naughty devils XD

I don't think anyone gets who the leader is for SHINee by watching interviews. There are two MCs and one radio show host in the group. Minho and Key were the MCs in musical shows for years and Jonghyun was a radio show host. Minho tend to be the official MCs for members' solo fan meetings or other events. All three are very comfortable being in the spot light and leading conversations. It just depends on who is more in the mood on a given day. But when they ask more serious questions like what do you like to say to fans, everyone looks to Onew to respond. That's when you know he is the leader of the group. Also, you have two introverts in this group, Onew and Taemin, who tend to be quieter compare to the others. Although they are like family to each other, so they do get their crazy moments where they are even crazier than the rest of the members. In this interview, they were just exhausted and key looks like he just doesn't want to be there. Some insider jokes like meditation. He is literally just making things up at that point, that's why everyone laughed. Taemin is also the baby of the group. The members basically raised him, so when he speaks everyone will respond and pay attention to him. If you look at other interviews or variety shows, you will see they really spoils him to no limits. The members generally agree Minho is their source of energy, when they need someone to cheer them on, they look for Minho. This is the result of both his extremely outgoing and extremely caring personalities.

14 years strong as of this month. They are truly another group that is chaotic solo and together. I would say that the older generations could be considered more chaotic because of how freely they could be in general in comparison to the newer gens. But watching the way they communicate is always something. Especially when you've spent half of your life with each other. Absolutely more Shinee please. Variety shows with them and other groups are always a great way to see their personalities shine better since it's less "strict". Thank you for reacting to them 💙

if you're interested in more of shinee, I recommend the livestreams they have done for comebacks/anniversaries. they're longer, but the members are a bit more natural than in some interviews. they also definitely have a level of chaos going on which is really fun to watch (also your comparison of taemin to wooyoung is spot on! their personalities seem quite similar and troublesome)

@@maxpbeaumont I agree about the livestreams, especially the more recent ones (for their Don't Call Me/Atlantis comeback and their 14th year anniversary celebration, now with captions), as well as their Vlives where they are commuting to/from work together. Their Don't Call Me album/comeback was their reunion as a group after Onew, Key, and Minho returned from their military service. When you see them dance and hear their harmonies, you can tell they have been together for 14+ years. Onew is the leader, main vocalist, who is the eldest, and is the heart and glue of the group; Jonghyun, a natural leader as you noticed, is the next oldest, main vocalist and prolific composer and hosted a popular radio show; Key is an all rounder who started as one of two rappers and is an active cast member of variety shows and does the fashion/styling for the group; Minho is an accomplished actor and athlete and the main rapper and visual of the group; and Taemin (an introvert) is the maknae (youngest) and from 14-years-old was the main dancer and center of the group. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Our Jonghyun is just talkative. He is really good speaker he is also attentive that is why he takes the leadership in interviews. Our Onew is the kind of leader who listens and give guidance to his members. SHINee has members with strong personalities so a common leadership didn't work for them, Onew realized it so he adopted a different approach. It adjusted perfectly to his members so he decided to support them from behind and give them the spotlight. Key is the social butterfly of the group along with Minho and Jonghyun but he is more straightforward and does have no filter. At first some people might take him for a rude person but when they know him better they find him as a funny and warm person. Minho's personality is that of a good kid and student so everything he does is correct from his speech to is posture. He is just a 💯. About Taemin...he is just care free, except when he is promoting as a solo. As the the youngest of the group SHINee members find him cute no matter what he does so they always laugh when he speaks. Taemin has always been the youngest, in SHINee, among his family and the industry so he has grown full of love and his attitude is that of a cute kid so no matter how old he is everyone, old and young people, find him cute and want to protect him. SHINee find this kind of interviews boring and uncomfortable so probably if you keep watching this interviews the members will look a bit bored of it.

SHINee has been in tons of interviews/talks.. sometimes they’re ultra hyper, or calm, chill, or whatever.. but the thing with them they don’t sugarcoat and dont laugh/react excessively just because.. when they’re all hyper they even forget the time and just blabber around.

You did great. Many people think as Jonghyun as the leader because he does fit the "position" to the T, but I do think SM was smart as choosing quite the opposite type to lead SHINee, because of the members strong and mischievous personalities they needed a quite soft patient one who wouldn't want to rule them or having the last word. (But I am pretty sure that on the daily basis Onew and Jonghyun naturally shared that role...) Key and Minho are the social butterflies, Taemin despite being loved by everyone, only have few good friends but feel awkward socially.

the first thing I thought when you asked if older generations are more chill and less chaotic was HELL NO! Probably the most chaotic group ever is Super Junior and they are 2nd generation Kpop. Shinee are crackheads too and super funny but also super chill and professional

I think the reason Taemin is able to make the members smile the most is because he’s unintentionally funny. He comes out with the weirdest things sometimes, like “I once ate an ant that was passing by”. But yes, he’s their baby and they’ve always doted on him. He has a few other friends that he’s really close with as well (a Korean tabloid once tried to expose him for being in a relationship with Exo’s Kai, but they’re just very close friends). Most other people he’s quite awkward with, apart from his manager, his back-up dancers and other staff members who he’s worked with for many years

- Onew is the oldest and leader of SHINee. Usually he really lets the members talk, giving them the spotlight. Or sometimes he's quiet because he's thinking of a joke. - Jonghyun used to host his own radio show where he conversed with common people sharing their stories; he really is a great conversionalist and not afraid to speak his mind - Key is known for being sassy and a good conversationalist as well. He is a favorite at variety shows. - Minho is an actor too and loves sports. I would say he really knows how to deal with different kinds of people, and is really good with kids. - Taemin is more of an introvert. Being the youngest in SHINee, the members and fans have spoiled him and he tends to say the most outrageous things and acts childlike at times too.

This interview was taken during their time having concerts in Usa. As I remembered, they squeezed this interview in the middle of their hectic schedule. So they were completely tired and jetlagged too. But still tried to do their interview as proffessional as possible. And Onew is actually the leader of Shinee, and the eldest one.

Thank you so very much for reacting to SHINee. As an older group (with much older fans than 3rd/4th gen groups) they don't get the volume of attention from reactors as they really should. SHINee were the original trendsetters and pioneers of Kpop. As a very experimental group, they instituted more firsts in the industry than any other group. For instance, SHINee pioneered live singing while performing more intricate, complex synchronized choreo. This amazed 1st and other 2nd gen groups at that time. When they heard SHINee was doing a dry-run rehearsal, those other groups and soloists within SM would rush to watch their rehearsals. They also started the dance practice trend with their 2010 DP for "Lucifer", which was the most complex choreo of that time. Those are just two of the many things that were started by SHINee. As a group, you will find no stronger brotherhood bond than SHINee. As they have said many times, they are FAMILY, and their open affection (which you just got a small glimpse of in this video) is always on display! However, like family, they have never been shy about stating their early squabbles with each other. In order to become the family they are, they had to move into their own respective homes to build that bond...lol. There is nothing "fake", pretentious, or hidden about them. What you see is what you get...lol. There are 3 very important aspects of SHINee that they emphasize: 1) their brotherhood; 2) their fans (SHAWOLs); 3) their music. SHINee considers SHAWOLs an extension of their family. They genuinely love us, constantly tell us that, and we can feel it. In fact, in 2018 they sold out the Tokyo Dome just to give us a fan event -- not a concert. It was a fan event for us, and it was fantastic. They also regularly, write songs for us (usually with each album). SHINee World (SHAWOL is short for SHINee World) is also a place where SHINee members can intermingle without fear of being engulfed by raging fans, as we respect their personal space and don't swamp us when they come close to talk with us. Often, during show performances or concerts, they will walk right up to us to interact. There is mutual respect between us. So, let me introduce you to each of the members, and you can gage how accurate your predictions were: Onew (pronounced On-you or Oh-new): AKA Tofu, Old Man; eldest; debuted at 18; now 32 (intl. age). As the leader, Onew is very kind, gentle, & nurturing. Can be quite quiet at times, but is also quite the comedian when he gets going. He is the glue that holds the group together with his quiet support and encouragement. Indulgent father-figure to baby Taemin. Known as the second best vocalist of Kpop (after Jonghyun). Honey vocals, very rich and warm. Hits the high notes and has a record in Korea of holding the longest, sustained note at 40+ seconds. On a whim, he wanted to try Opera and performed "Nessun Dorma" at one of their concerts --- KILLED IT! Solo MVs to check out: "Dice", (from 2022 mini-album of same name) "Way", "Blue" (from 2018 album, "Voice") many OSTs and covers including "Rainy Blue". Jonghyun (our angel): AKA Bling, Bling, Jjong; debuted at 18; forever 27. Jonghyun wore his heart on his sleeve and thought very deeply about things. Although he was quite the talker (lol), he was also extremely sensitive and most often the one who cried the easiest, especially during moving performances. He also cared deeply about people and social issues. Jonghyun and Taemin knew each other before meeting the other SHINee members, as they were trainees together before being assigned to the group. As such, elder JH took Taemin under his wing and became, as JH put it, "Taemin's 2nd. mother". He was very protective of Taemin. JH also designated himself as Taemin's fan club president. He was so proud of Taemin's singing growth and hard work. JH had the most powerful, versatile and beautiful voice. This man was probably the best vocalist Kpop had ever heard, just phenomenal. High notes were no problem for him. He could also rap quite well. Prolific songwriter, composer, and could play several instruments (including being quite talented with the Kazoo). He was a musical genius; Book author; Radio host. First SM artist with self-written albums. As you've sadly discovered, we lost Jonghyun to his life-long battle with chronic depression in 2017. This was devastating to SHINee (and us), but their bond helped them to pull it together and continue on to keep Jonghyun's dream of SHINee forever alive. As they say, SHINee will always be 5 = 5HINee. They make sure to include him within their performances, choreos, and song lyrics in subtle ways that SHAWOLs instantly recognize. Now, JH is their guardian angel and with them in spirit. Solo MVs to check out: "Crazy", "Y Si Fuera Ella", "She Is", "Shinin", "Deja-Boo", "Lonely", "Before Our Spring", "End of a Day". Albums: "Base", "Story Op 1", "She Is", "Story Op 2", "Poet" (The last being released posthumously.) Minho: AKA Flaming Charisma, Ming; debuted at 16; now 30 (intl age). Minho is called "Flaming Charisma" because he is EXTREMELY competitive and good in just about all sports: soccer, basketball, relay racing, high-dive; high-jump, etc. He does not like to lose. His father is a soccer coach. Minho is an excellent and prolific actor and has been in the most dramas of all of them. He is also the biggest SHINee fan of all. Attends other SHINee members solo events and always either sends gifts to their MV sets or pops in during their promos, etc., to check on things. Minho is extremely kind and loving. He's also Key's bickering buddy (like an old married couple) and Taemin's supportive big brother who would give Taemin the moon if possible.. He's also quite the kid magnet too. He will make an absolutely fantastic father one day. Deep, velvety voice, but can also sing higher as well. He has a slight lisp; writes his own rap segments; songwriter; actor. Solo MVs to check out: "Heartbreak" and "Home". No solo albums to date...we are patiently waiting. Key: AKA All Knowing Master Key, "Bammie"; debuted at 16; now 30 (intl age). Key is the SASSIEST of the group. No BS with him; tells it like it is and is quite the comedian. He and Minho are total opposites, but love each other even when they bicker endlessly...lol. They are considered the "old married couple" of the group. He is also the fashionista of the group, the fashion designer for their stages, as well as an actual fashion director for SM. Key can memorize choreos just by watching them once. He is the designated "Mom" of the group, taking care of the other members through cooking, ironing, and caring for them. Don't let his sarcastic nature fool you. He has a heart of gold. The most hilarious thing is when he tries to keep Taemin under control, especially when in a car together (VLIVEs)....alas, Key is just as savage and uncontrollable...lol. In short, he is a hilariously bad influence on Taemin. Nasal tones and very versatile. Can really hit those high notes. Has a melodic rap style that flows nicely. After Taemin, Key is the next-best dancer of the group. Songwriter, composer, Actor, Soloist. Solo MVs to check out: "Bad Love" (from his 2021 album of the same name), "Hate That" ("Bad Love" album), "One of Those Nights", "I Wanna Be", "Forever Yours", "Cold". Albums: "Bad Love", "Face". Taemin: AKA Power Taem, Baby Cheese, Magic Hand, Taeminnie and also often referred to as the "MJ of S. Korea"; debuted at 14; now 28 (intl. age). Taemin is the "baby" of the SHINee, and the members will always treat him as such. They coddle and love on him to this day, and Taemin is the most comfortable and happy when with them. As the maknae (youngest) of the group, he has been raised with SHINee and is an interesting mix of all of them. Taemin is a chameleon and changes his style, voice, attitude according to which group he's with or acting as a soloist. He's a MONSTER on stage and his charisma is mesmerizing. He is extremely intelligent, deep, and thoughtful. While he's extremely charismatic on stage, he's also very shy and most often like a fluffy, awkward ewok off-stage. Very humble guy who is a work-a-holic, dedicated, and will dance 17-18 hours straight when necessary until he meets his standard of perfection; described as being like tofu with a core of iron, as he also takes no bs and can be quite savage when necessary. He's very adept at getting what he wants whether from his SHINee hyungs or SM. Although spoiled rotten by his SHINee hyungs, he's also very loving towards them. Couldn't sing at debut due to immature vocal cords and was tutored by Onew & Jonghyun, and is a self-taught dancer beginning at 10 YO. He is both a member of SHINee, soloist, and as of 2019, a member of SuperM as well. Taemin has a soft, extremely versatile voice - sensual and sexy. He can sing Metal just as easily as Rock, or a soft ballad. Can hit dem high notes. Songwriter; composer, actor; plays the piano beautifully, most prolific soloist of the group & tweaks choreo for both SHINee & SuperM. Solo MVs to check out: "Criminal" and "IDEA" from his 2020 album (cohesive story), "Advice" from his 2021 mini-album of same name., (A melodic rap song & the epilogue to 2020 story), "Want", "Famous", "Move", "Danger" (his 2014 solo debut song), "Ace", "Thirsty", "Drip Drop", "Press Your Number", "Under My Skin", "Sayonara Hitori", "Flame of Love", etc................. (too many to list). Several albums in both Korean and Japanese, as well as EPs, mini-albums, OSTs. Some of the best ways to observe SHINee and their interactions is to watch their VLIVEs. There they communicate with their fans without having to worry about formal interview etiquette. They can just be themselves more comfortably.

Yeah SHINee has got to have one of the most interesting group dynamic, because all the members are so passionate and have such strong personality’s, onew the leader had the become more submissive and supportive of an person to keep the group working, he’s said multiple times that leading by forced doesn’t work for SHINee that he had to be become one who comprises

I suspect because they are all so gifted and successful in their own way from so young, Jinki as the oldest has to balance out the demands of their management by being their soft supportive leader. SM managers and staff are known to be taskmasters with high expectations. Jonghyun as the sensitive empathic one is ever mindful of sharing the spotlight he so naturally commands. They were the perfect duo for the maknae line

Shinee is a more relaxed group and you were right about most of them. About Key, he just shows what he is feeling at that moment and is very straight forward and honest. Taemin is the youngest of the group and the other members have said that they feel responsible for him and want to take care of him since when they debuted he was only 15 years old, so that’s why they’re ig more accommodating to him and he makes them laugh easily not that they’re not accommodating with the other members. Onew is the leader. He is on the calmer side. well also chaotic but he tends to let the members take the spotlight while he just looks at them/observe unless there’s a need to step on that leader role.. then he does it right away with confidence. Jonghyun likes to talk (he’s also a radio dj too) so they let him talk.

SHINee is a 2nd gen groups but the members’ ages are not too far from groups who debuted later than them coz they debuted so young. Onew is the oldest.. and Taemin is the youngest and indeed they dote on their youngest a lot.

shinee has been a group for a long time (their 14th anniversary was may 25th!) so obviously they've grown a lot and their dynamics have shifted around, sometimes pretty drastically, but I think this reaction & analysis was really interesting to watch! I've seen a lot of people notice that jonghyun seems to take on a leadership role when the group is presenting or doing interviews and such even though he's not officially the leader. onew is (and the eldest; the age order in shinee is onew > jonghyun > minho = key > taemin), but he's generally quieter, a little more awkward, a little less outwardly confident in public settings like that. onew does more of a quiet guidance internally, if I had to guess. jonghyun thrives (thrives I tell you!) in the spotlight performance-wise, though I don't know how much of that translates to doing interviews with the rest of the group. also lol at you noticing how little key wants to be there and how unconcerned he is with letting that be known. key's quick to boredom but also quick to laugh out of his seat, and he has a wonderful love/hate relationship with half of the rest of the group, lol. anyway, thank you for this! hope for more shinee soon, I love them a lot and they really care for each other too. they wouldn't still be around if they didn't

For me, shinee is just as chaotic/mischievous as any other group, especially in their recent years. In terms of personality tho, Key is the one who stands out for me, he's just very sassy, has not filter, and tells it like it is, and he's just a really fun guy.

Wow more SHINee plss! Their dynamics and authenticity is really something! Been following them for almost a year now, I must say generally they communicate honestly and sincerely most of the time. They are very true to themselves that they would admit they lied sometimes or don't care about fan service image just to show you their true colors. They are very open even their disagreements. They are very smart and intelligent on how to handle themselves even if a show is somehow scripted. Finally they're humans who are passionate and are always shining with different colors. They are a breath of fresh air!

I love to see people learning about SHINee and getting to know their personalities, so this was a cool reaction! It was cool to see how much you got right about them, and I hope you check out more from SHINee in the future! People in the comments have said a lot, but here’s some more info! SHINee is from the second gen, they’ve had 14 years in the industry and have definitely matured and become true professionals. The second gen was wild though, especially back in the 2010s-they had idols doing full Wipeout courses, getting “married” and even taking care of a kid. As other people have said, in this interview they were very tired and jet lagged and it shows. They tend to be more natural and chaotic on VLives with just the group. Onew is the leader and the oldest. You picked up that he’s definitely more introverted and prefers to take a passive approach, generally letting the rest of the members do most of the talking. Jonghyun has such a calming energy and presence, I’d say that he plays a huge role in facilitating conversation within the group. He’s really attentive and open-minded, though he also had his silly moments. He had his own radio show, Blue Night, where he interacted with listeners and I think that contributed to his communication skills. Key wears all of his emotions on his face-he doesn’t try to filter himself and you can always tell what he is thinking, lol. But he also has such a big and bright personality and never fails to make the group laugh. He’s also quite thoughtful and very involved in SHINee creatively-he’s always keeping the group and their direction in mind. I’d describe Minho as very steady, grounding, and mature-but he can also explode with energy (he’s literally known for his “passion”, and he also has the best, most contagious laugh). He has a very competitive mindset and brings enthusiasm to everything he does. He’s usually the one smiling even while the other members complain or are tired (like in this interview). You were spot-on when you said that Taemin is the shit-stirrer, lol. He’s the youngest of the group (debuted when he was only 14), and so the other members let him get away with a lot. He likes to jokingly tease them, but he also cares for them a lot and couldn’t stop talking about them while they were away doing military service. He has a lot of energy and a mischievous personality-he’s also an incredibly hard worker. Their group dynamic has definitely changed, shifted, and matured over the years. SHINee has been very candid in saying that in the beginning, they honestly didn’t get along or understand each other. Over the years that evolved into a very deep bond. They talked about their time as trainees and their fights on the show “Happy Together” (there’s clips here on KZbin). They also mentioned that a little on the show “Knowing Bros,” as well as Key’s hilarious reaction to Minho coming back from the military.

shinee is actually pretty chaotic. they are one of those groups that can get away with so much shit lol. they are truly brothers that love each other but wont hesitate to call each other out and argue lmaooo. onew is the leader and the oldest, but he chooses to lead by supporting the others. he even received the "best leader award" voted by other group leaders at an award show. they only did that once lol.

Thank you so much for this! I always wished you'd react to SHINee but since they are an older group I had no expectations. You are right, in this interview they are absolutely logged out since it was between concerts and a jam-packed schedule. But even so, SHINee has been a group for so long that you can see the dynamic of the group and even the members' moods change as the years pass. As artists and people, they have evolved so much during these 14 years, one example that really comes to mind right now is Onew. When SHINee debuted he was the oldest and the leader at only 18 y/o so despite being an introvert and having a really soft personality he had to push himself to be in the spotlight and act as a shield for the rest of the members. That really took a toll on him and it was reflected in later years, but he had a solo comeback recently and talked about how he had become more comfortable with himself as Onew and as Jinki(his real name). From his recent comments, it's just really obvious that he is now in a much better mental and emotional state, but that's after 14 years so you can imagine the journey he went through to get to this point. I hope you react to more SHINee! I always look forward to your Stray Kids reactions but I'll definitely tune in for SHINee too.

Since a lot of ppl including some fans don’t know context of the interview. This interview happened during their tour and they just travelled to that city hours before the concert plus this interview happened just before the concert started so they were trying to concentrate and I think some in the comments mistook that as them being uninterested in the interview when it is them just trying to concentrate on the concert they about to do By the way that tour was the only North America tour they had Another thing Jonghyun since debut and they all assigned him to speak the most because he is the best at explaining things and best speaker of the group and at countries that have English as first language Key gets that role since key is fluent in English

i'd love to see more of your analysis for SHINee. they've extremely multi-faceted personalities, this clip is just one side of them (doesn't happen often i must say) when they're forced to sit down for a stiff and stale interview while they're on their busiest schedules preparing for their world tour. please do react to other content where they're more relaxed and having fun with one another! but that aside, you're pretty spot on. taemin's definitely everyone's favourite - he's the youngest and all the members ADORE him so much. jonghyun is always the one leading conversations and interviews and chats, he's extremely charismatic and considerate of others - not to mention good with words and communicating. onew is one of the more introverted members while key never feigns interest in something he does not care for.

Minho is actual LMK y the cheerleader of the group. He goes to all members' activities.. he knows all their sched despite the fact that he himself is super busy. In addition he also has loads of friends outside the group and is one the few male idol who can interact with female idols without being bashed. You should check out this video of minho with girls generation..minho is often called as their fave brother because he becomes a child when he is with them.and that confidence is maybe partly because of the fact that he is a gifted athlete. He does soccer basketball swimming athletics pilates and golf. Yes the guy can do no wrong

There is a lot to look forward to in terms of the progression of their communication and relationship, ESPECIALLY considering what the members have endured together. I love how you mistook Jonghyun as the leader😁 He was a natural entertainer, very good at interviews and so so funny at variety shows. For me this just proves how good Onew is as their leader. He just lets everyone shine and stays in the background but steps forward when it is needed. If you check out more interviews, you will see that Onew often takes the responsibility to keep them going. Key is also very funny at interviews because he is a sassy diva, you will know what he thinks right away. Minho is indeed a very confident guy, tall and athletic, complete opposite of Key and just look at some other stuff to see how they communicate with each other😂 Taemin is just... Taemin lol. Shinee debuted 2008 their ages at the time werr.. Leader Onew 18 , Jonghyun 17, key and minho 16 and Taemin was 14. The boys raised him to adulthood. As your now aware Jonghyun passed away via suicide in Dec 2017 due to depression. With regards Taemin he's their spoiler fairy loves to reveal things he shouldn't. Minho does a lot of kdramas you should check them out. They are the standard that all kpop artists strive for . They are also the only group that do everything live. If you really want to understand them more checkout their entire discography and solo work as well as their shineeworld concerts here in KZbin. As to how chaotic they are best way to see that is not watching interviews they've done but by watching their old live streams

This was their Soompi interview before their fanmeet in Chicago. This was the only time I saw them live. They were extremely jetlagged. They literally took a red-eye flight over night landed in Chicago grabbed a Chicago deep dish pizza, checked in their hotel then headed straight to the Rosemont Theatre. They were amazing though! They truly gave their all despite the massive time change and everything. Best mother's day I've ever had. My daughter got to see Jonghyun (she's a blinger) and she got a wink and a wave from Minho.

Taemin is both very shy and a big trouble maker. He debuted incredibly young and so many in the industry have seen him as a younger brother, and now the 3rd and 4th gens see him as their idol. For reference, he is the 2nd oldest in SuperM and the same age as Suga. I think the dynamic of him in the industry is really interesting because of that. There is a great series of the members celebrating their (I think 10th) anniversary and cooking together and he’s in the other room playing video games 😛

I am so happy u did react to SHINee and i really really hope u would react to more of SHINee bcause they are such an intersting group and the members themsleves are so fun to watch as a group and indvidually! SHINee is a legend status in the Kpop industry and almost every group u reacted to had at least one fan of SHINee! Niki of Enephyn , Wooyoung and Seonghwa of Ateez , Hyunjin from Straykids , Heachan and Taeyong and Ten from Nct , Jimin from BTS. SHINee really built an amazing name for themsleves in the industry as a group and soloists. Each of them is a really strong soloists and has amazing successful solo careers yet they never to fail to bring their group name in their solo careers and they are always talking about each other! I have seen other groups where a lot of the members get success from their solo careers they get tired of their group and leave but with SHINee its amazing how it was never like this for them! Jonghyun is the center and he is really a good speaker.Onew and Taemin are introverts so with strangers around they may get silent.when they debuted Onew was the önlü adult(18yo) so he was on variety shows all the time and the most active but as the members got confident he stepped back a little.he wanted to be in shows he will feel relaxed.

I think the misconception was always based on the 'Alpha' stereotype people had of leaders. And based on their personalities, an 'alpha' type leader would most likely have negatively impacted the group. Also Onew is just quiet by nature, so if someone is willing to talk or lead a discussion, he will let them. Same as letting the members do what they want and only stepping in to bring order or direction is what makes him a very effective leader. He's allowed his members to strengthen their skills and build their confidence. This inclusive type of leadership has allowed all 5 members to grow successful solo careers without drama or threat to SHINee's (the group) existence.

Please... this is one my most favorite interviews. Because I find Onew and Key floating somewhere, like they’re there but also not there. To be fair, the boys are jet-lagged coming off of a long flight from SK to USA so that explains why Key and Onew looked like they’re not interested. Onew is the leader, Taemin is the youngest that’s why he also had that energy. Key had a middle-child syndrome I suppose but you have to see their other interviews to appreciate them more. I believe they’re more mature and well-conversed in interviews and we credit that to their experience in the industry.

SHINee is full of strong personalities, Key just has no filter, and he's not the type of person who would fake a reaction. Jonghyung is wonderful as a hosting and communicator in general, maybe that's why he gives off a "leader vibe". Onew is the only one who is chill and very shy. Taemin is actually the youngest, and he is simply loved by the entire industry, seriously, people just can't get over Taemin. You should watch more SHINee content, they are actually very fun and chaotic most of the time. They have been together for a long time, their bond is no joke, is something I've only seen similar in BTS and Shinwa.

And Minho as you said is a "superstar" cause he's not only an idol but also an actor, an athlete, and very much a national symbol (I mean shinee as a kpop group is considered a national treasure too so)

The fact that you thought of Jonghyun as the leader didn’t surprise me because Onew really isn’t a stereotypical kpop group leader. What did surprise was that you thought of Taemin as a social butterfly when he is in fact the only introvert in the group and tends to find social interactions difficult. When Kpop groups do these interviews there are usually multiple interviews back to back, they most likely just got off the plane that day or day before and they are getting ready for a concert/performance, so They are very tired and most likely tired of answering the same questions over and over again. Also, since the interviews are back to back each member usually takes the lead on different interviews and (I am not say he is but) there is a chance that Onew is holding his arm because he has an injury.

They have a group of friends called Wooga squad and it would be nice if you could check out some of their interviews or moments. Taemin is a good friend with Jimin as well. I love this group. Their bonds are way different than what I am use to from BTS or Stray Kids but it's fun. Minho was my bias at first but now I feel like I really love all of them. I just think this was a serious interview setting so they dialed it back. They know when it's time to be crazy and when it's time to be serious. SHINee without a filter (for example when they do their own livestreams) is crazy, crazy I am telling you. But also you're right about them probably being tired when they did this interview. If I remember correctly they did this right before a concert, so they had went through intensive practice the days before so they were probably 1) tired from that and 2) reserving energy for the concert to come after (SHINee concerts last 3-4 hours usually).

Im not an expert in Shinee but I am aware of some of their dynamics and roles in the group. Key is just sassy as f*ck, you can see that in his interview with Buzzfeed, the man is just so unapologetically himself, doesn't take shit from anybody, if he isn't feeling something he doesn't seem to care if people notice, he's the definition of "what you see is what you get" for me. Onew is actually the leader and among all of them he seems to be the quietest, he just let's them do their thing and enjoy themselves. Jonghyun, having been considered one of the best composers of his time, I would guess that's the reason why he's so easy with words, cuz that's what he did the most and what he did the best. I would highly suggest listening to some of his solo music, his writing is just absolutely gorgeous alongside his amazing voice and beautiful compositions. Taemin is actually the youngest and even though I'm not that familiar with his personality he just seems like a wholesome bean and has always been that way. He's considered "The idol of idol's" because of how many idols have named him as an inspiration thanks to his amazing dancing skills, vocals and performances, even being called the korean Michael Jackson by some. To summarize everything, Shinee are legends.

You certainly picked up on the fact that they don't want to be there! These poor guys were so jet-lagged in this interview, so it's hard to make a fair assessment, I think. Jonghyun even makes mention of it at one point. Watch any of their lives, and you will see that these guys are hot messes! And, the love they have for each other is so genuine and true. I think your other analysis of them really shows who they are better. You definitely nailed Key's personality here and Minho's confidence. Key is hilarious, sarcastic, takes no BS, and would never be able to play poker because he absolutely cannot hide his feelings or keep a straight face. He's very quick-witted; love his comebacks. It shows his emotional intellect. Minho is one of the most all-around gifted people. He is kind, thinks of others before himself, humble while still confident, has a great sense of humor, and is a perfectionist. He's one of those guys who can do anything, but still strives to do things harder, better, faster, stronger, with more passion no matter what. He could be full of himself, because of his physical attributes, but instead he's so incredibly genuine and thoughtful. I think Onew is guarded, but really funny and exudes a quiet strength that has kept this group together through some really dark times. Taemin is Taemin. What else you can say about him? He's impish, mischievous, sensitive, and has an incredible innocence about him (except on stage!). Jonghyun is all about wearing his heart on his sleeve. He felt everything to his core. One of the most talented artists I have ever seen and such a gentle soul.
