It’s pronounced "Shine-E” (shiny) Yes, "Tae-Min” the soloist is originally from this group. He’s also in Super M which has some members from NCT and EXO. The members have some solo stuff. They’re a 5 member group. Unfortunately, you’ll notice you only see 4 in the newest videos. That’s because one of the members, Jonghyun, passed away in 2017. Won’t go into too many details. SHINee are something special...Yes, they are a 2nd gen. But still alive and kicking ☺️ If I may suggest, besides the most recent songs, you would be interested in reacting to some older songs when they were still 5 (before 2017). Especially live stages. They are legendary! A few good MVs could be "1 of 1" "Ring Ding Dong" "Lucifer" "Dream Girl" "Married to the Music" "Everybody" "Sherlock" The same tracks also live on concert, to which I would personally add also "Excuse Me Miss" "Stranger" (legendary from Shinee World Concert - SWC IV) "Evil" "Dynamite" "Picasso" "Why So Serious" ...and many, many others...

With "Don't Call Me," SHINee (pronounced Shiny -- as in shiny diamonds or shiny stars -- their name has a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine) are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. And "Don't Call Me" is a perfect example of that. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and, yet, they are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than many members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc. which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew turned 32 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one with the hoodie -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch, etc. Key -- the one with the feather headpiece -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment, so Key is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also known as SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. Minho -- the one with the red hair -- is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is a top actor and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. He is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. And, as you are discovering, Taemin -- the one with the blond highlights -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry (one of the top 2 best dancers of all dancers in Kpop), and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular solo artists and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. Although Jonghyun wasn't in the MV -- because he passed away 4 years ago -- in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. So unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and continue to sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography for more than 3 hours straight in concert. Shinee is one of the best live performers I have ever seen. You should check those out. Their live stages are just beautiful and on another level. They are the 2nd gen group that mentored such greats as EXO and NCT. To answer your question, yes, they are still together and active. In fact, both Key and Taemin released their latest solo albums last year, Onew is due to release his second album next month, and we are still waiting on our dear Minho...but he also has a very active acting career which he loves. They will all come together again when their maknae, Taemin, returns from his military duties in November, 2022. SHINee debuted in 2008 and were between the ages of 14 (Taemin) and 18. They are LEGENDS and ICONS in the Kpop world. Very highly respected & loved by the entire industry. In fact, there is a saying that if you don't know SHINee, your favorite idols are their fans or were inspired to join Kpop because of them. No one in Kpop has a bad thing to say about them. Most widely known to have killer live performances with exceptional dancing and phenomenal live vocals with insane harmonies (sing all songs 90-95% live). Reacting to live performances is always best because they sound either just like their recorded vocals or, most often, better than recordings. Billed as a contemporary group, SHINee can blend and sing in any genre of music - sometimes creating their own genres. As an example, this song is a marriage between Hip-Hop with R&B and Classical thrown in. For each comeback, they always give us something new. They are extremely experimental, unique, and each member has a very distinct voice. This is why their harmonies are so beautiful. Known to be the trendsetters of Kpop by starting new fashion trends (pencil jeans), the dance practice videos, introducing new genres to Kpop like dubstep and deep house, and now this, as well as introducing more complex, synchronized choreos while singing live - which was not done prior to SHINee, it's no stretch to say that 3rd & 4th gen Kpop wouldn't have advanced as quickly or be what it is today without the influence of SHINee. In fact, most of those idols actually idolize SHINee and still cover their songs today, especially their debut song, "Replay". SHINee became the first new group to win the "Rookie Grand Slam" award for winning the five major rookie awards in 2008. This would not happen again until 2015. As for being together, SHINee have perhaps the most famous brotherhood in Kpop. They are truly brothers in every sense of the word and are not afraid to show their affection for each other onstage and off, as well as commenting on their disagreements in the early days of their career. They are quite honest about everything, and their support for each other is heartwarming to behold. If there is an important event in one of the members lives, the other members are there, unless there is another commitment they can't wiggle out of. There is even one time where Jonghyun delayed his own solo concert by two days so he and Onew could attend & support Taemin's very first solo concert in Japan. Jonghyun even bought every piece of concert merch and adorned himself in them to show Taemin backstage. Even the members' parents attend their concerts together. After all, these guys have been together for approx. 17 years when you add in their trainee days together and have been through some very trying and devastating times, however, they have remained steadfast to and supportive of each other which has only strengthened their bond. HONESTLY this song speaks for itself talking about all the fake love going around from Toxic obsessiveness of SASAENGS and ANTIs which SHINee saying how sick they are of it; toward the end they start saying how they going to save their love for their true fans 🥰* Don’t even get me started on their outfits ICONIC, hairstyles/colors, choreography and scene changes so much representation of their older albums. Even though you may find other interpretations the bottom line is THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT TOXIC SASAENGS AND ANTIs that constantly hounding their phones & tormenting them by spreading false news throughout their career since debut which they had enough of it (they are mentally & physically stronger now). This song isn’t about one person; as long as i’ve known them since day one they’ve never been in any romantic relationship with anyone because if they had such relationships fans would be all over it non-stop posting like crazy everywhere and ANTIs would eat it up using it against them along with corrupt media.* During their comeback showcase when they were giving spoilers many fans thought the track was going to be "Spam Call" but it was actually "Dont Call Me" and the hilarious thing was they were literally giving their number to fans LOL the deeper I think about it such a genius way to expose fake fans thinking how upset they were about it. fun fact: they have a song called "ring ding dong" that is now a SAT banned song because when it was released, the melody was so addictive it got stuck in everyone's heads so kids kept failing their exams, office workers couldn't concentrate on work and the whole gen's scores dropped for entrance exams. Because Taemin is also a member of SuperM, I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connecting SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence, Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force and EXO's/SuperM's storyline. As with everything that SM does, it's been designed to all connect. All of SM's groups' concepts and MV storylines connect together and it's all part of one giant Universe and story that started in 2012 with EXO's debut. To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to keep in mind that it all began with EXO's origin story. As I think you know, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. And SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force. So, because of this, all of SM's groups have storylines that connect. I see connections between EXO, SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me." And most recently, we saw Baekhyun from EXO/SuperM on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai from EXO/SuperM on train tracks and people on a subway train platform in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and as it transitions to "Mmmh." We also see Key from SHINee in a subway train in his solo debut "One of Those Nights" MV in 2018. And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. Which I think is all connected in someway. The train station/subway platform in "Don't Call Me" also is given a very futuristic EXO-like feel with the view of space and the planets in the sky when you see SHINee dancing on the train platform. I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the phone booth submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." (And now that Key has released his solo "Hate That ... " MV, I think that scene with Taeyeon from Girls' Generation, standing on the rock in the middle of the ocean in "Hate That ..." is connected to that scene in "Don't Call Me" as well.) Then it looks as though the SHINee members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to the scene in SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV when the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping." The members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from taking over the world, etc. As "The Avengers," SuperM is taking members from each of SM's groups and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. So, if you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight. And because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen. groups with the introduction of aespa in 2020 -- are being designed to connect stories and plots. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connections between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen. That is why I think that even though SHINee are part of the second generation, that SM is now working on bringing them into the storyline. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that NingNing's butterfly in aespa's concept from 2020 could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MV from 2012, as well as the butterfly in NCT-127's recent "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021, and some have made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in their "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV from 2016 may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's recent "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s "When We Were Us" MV from 2020 in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. And SM has even brought Kangta, who is a member of the very first Kpop boy group H.O.T., which debuted in 1996, into the storyline with his solo MV remake of H.O.T's song "Free to Fly." So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing everyone into the storyline, including their older groups and artists.
