Niklas looks like he may be prone to bouts of extreme happiness and then extreme unhappiness ....he was very edgey to begin with then warmed up when his paranoia lifted ....but its just that the paranoia of using drugs all the time can make you really lash out ....and you could see that when he initially had a go at the guy in the middle.

I hate myself for it, but as a longtime heroin addict (working on it, I've been clean for a couple of months actually currently, but who knows how long that will last), my mood swings in the extreme in either direction. I'm either manic and energetic, super happy and very social, or I'm completely moody and shitty just brooding by myself and pushing everything and everyone away. Not proud of it at all, and I'm trying to work on it, but I think it's a combination of the drugs as well as the type of person that becomes a drug addict.

He has paranoid schizophrenia. He was formally diagnosed with it. That's the FIRST reason, BEFORE drugs. Mental health. Then, adding drugs on top of that, of course exacerbates it.

You are right. Either the early black metal/SDBM sound or their more recent new wave/gothic influenced BM sound are both great. The new album is so dark and in a really laid back subtle way,most youngsters won't get it.

Niklas is actually kind of likable here. He seems a lot more honest now than he did in interviews years ago. Like he's trying a lot less hard to be edgy and evil.

He really just goes back and forth, because he has bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia. You can never tell with him sometimes he's alright. I actually feel bad for the guy because I think he's in an environment which encourages him to be "dark" andunhinged, and therefore not treat his mental health issues. He's most likely surrounded by "yes men" too, instead of people who compel him to actually treat his psychological problems.

I think it's great that Niklas is getting better! He looks more happy than a few years ago. I love Shining and I think that Niklas is one of the most intressting persons alive :) I'm glad that he got a wife now and is ready to start a family. He's still sick but it seems that he's not just thinking about suicide. If he killed him self, who would preach? It's very irretating that the Shining-fans don't like Shining anymore because Niklas has become less evil. that isn't true. Hail SHINING!

I listen to Shining Norway, I was turned off by this band BUT, after watching this interview, I may have to give them a listen. They won me over with two things I like, Depeche Mode and their humility - I did like the fact of 60 members, but Niklaus is winning me over, he obviously does it for the music. Guns and Roses SUCK ASS, so does Megadeth
