I love seeing a tiger on singletrack! I got an 800xc and live in upstate NY, and feel like I'm the only guy on a big middle sized adventure bike taking on the skinny trails.

I ran the 804/805 combo on my loaded down 1200GS for both the NM and WY BDRs. They are a great deal. They are better on the road sections than my previous TKC80s. Both the Skinkos and Contis both wear fast on the pavement though. I thought the Shinkos were killer on the sand, gravel and rocks. My only beef is that the rear 805 tends to wash out sideways on slick mud. My trick was to ride in the mud ruts, so that the rear tire would be constrained and could simply act like a paddle. This wasn’t always possible, so I had several muddy drops.

Great review! This Shinko's gone be my pick for the DR650. Now, for sand and mud i'll go for the Bridgestone Adventurecross AX41 (forget the Str, Anakee, Tkc 80, etc). I have them in my 2010 XT660Z Tenere and after 2000 kms i can say they have great traction in mud (release mud very easy) and sand (due to the large contact patch). In the rain always felt glued to tarmac or rocks. They inspire confidence. I run 21 and 17 wheels in 2.0bar (off-road).

I have only used TKC 80's on my bike since replacing the OEM tires back in 2012. I have absolutely loved them all these years, but finally this year ended up buying the Shinko 804/805 tires to try. The place I always bought my TKC's from no longer carries the 150/70-17 rear, and the cost of the 170/70-17 is exactly $100.00 more expensive than a Shinko 805! I just can't afford the TKC's anymore.

I am impressed with these too. Reality is for my riding the 705s would probably suit me even better. But damn these 804/805s just look so damn good on the bike too and you only trade off some longevity to the 705s so this will stay as my tire of choice.

I bought the E804/805 combo for my G310GS, assuming that I'd get 6000 miles out of the original Metzler Tourance tires. I have over 9000 miles on them and they'll probably need to be replaced at 10,000 miles. That's very impressive longevity, and they're good 90% street tires. I definitely want a more off road capable tire but I mostly ride on secondary roads so I'd like to get a lot more off road ability without too much compromise on the road, and it sounds like the Shinko tires are going to be a very good fit for the way I ride my little old man ADV bike. One other aspect in the favor of the Shinko tires for those of us who do our own wrenching, the Shinko tires are reputed to be easier to install.

I just pulled the trigger on an 804/805 set for my 2021 T7. Under $240.00 shipped/taxed on Motosport in May of 2022. They are replacing the stock Pirelli Scorpions which I absolutely hated. I was convinced I was going to put on tires with a "V" or chevron type pattern, ( think Metzeler Karoo 3's) but decided to take a chance on the Shinkos based on the HUGE amount of positive reviews. We'll see.

I had a Tiger 800xcx in San Diego for years, with 705s and then 805s on it. Great tire, but the rear flattened off early and fishtailed under power. I recognize those trails, crashed plenty of them on the Triumph and lots of other bikes LOL

I am running this combo on my Teneré 700. I agree with what you said about these tires. I am in the PNW. I am relatively new to off pavement out so far so good, with the 804/5. I have just under 1700 miles on them. I am considering getting the Mitas E-07 also. Have you used those tires?
@BornAGoon3 жыл бұрын
I have not used the Mitas on this one I have riden on them before and they do not seem to flex as much The Mitas seems like a hard tire but users claim very high milage on them

I put an 805 on the stern of my Africa Twin to finish off my Anakee Wild front, after which I planned to get Dunlop Trailmax Missions. Now I'm strongly just considering sticking with that combo - the wild is much more settled on the fron than the 804, and the rear does really well - perhaps a hint more squirrely in the twists than the Anakee Wilds, but close enough...and much more robust than the AW rear.
@BornAGoon3 жыл бұрын
I should try that

The 805 is more robust than the anakee wild rear? I thought the 805 wasnt that robust? Which front is more robust out of the anakee wild, tkc80, scorpion rally str?

Would love to hear your opinion on my search for tires on a 125cc scrambler weighing only 150kg wet (plus another 85-100kg with me plus gear). For about 80/20 street/off-road. Not to be used for highways, do want to ride in the rain. Don't want to loose the scrambler look so looking at 50/50 tires instead of the more logical choice of 70/30-ish. Can't decide between AX41, Scorpion Rally STR, TKC80, 804/805. Additional difficulty in the search, not much options in 17" rims, and max rear width is only 120. Stock tires are 100/90-17 & 90/90-17.

A great tire for most riding, but in the mud it has to be. One of the worst. On my last ride I hit about 300 yards of mud patches about 2 to 3 inches deep. I rarely drop my bike but on this ride and this patch the bike front and rear was sliding out continuously and I must have payed down the bike about ten time in those 300 yards. In the future I will surely be avoiding any long stretch of mud.

Hi, new subscriber here :) If you have to mix tires what combination do you think is best for 50/50 rides. Thank's!
@BornAGoon4 жыл бұрын
for regular tires the Shinko 804/805 or Bridgestone AX41 If you want to mix you can use either fronts I listed with TKC 80 rear or TKC 80 front with the above rears. If you want to spend more on the rear the best rear tire for performance and longevity it the Mitas E07 but it is pricey
