Another fascinating and informative video on selecting young koi. I have learnt a lot watching yours and Koi Talks video, plus a few other KZbinrs. I have a Hi Utsuri with a bent mouth, which it brought from a garden centre style outlet, it was around 22 cm and cost me £30 as part of a deal. 3 1/2 years later It’s now over 50cm and has a real presence in my pond, it also hand feeds. A real joy of a fish. Can you get your videographer to get some extra lights, your beautiful little fish were in shadow a lot of the time. Keep making the videos. Stay safe and well 👍🏻

Great video! Can you touch briefly on your feeding regiment for your grow on fish? Ex. how many times per day and how often? Do you feed 24 hours a day and if so, do you feed every 2 hours?

These are currently at 25c and fed every 2 hours from 6am until 10pm.

How long does it take for the Sumi to fully form on hi utsuri? I'm thinking about buying a local 25" shinoda but it seems to not have enough Sumi at nisai.

In 90% of cases with Hi Utsuri from Shinoda have the Sumi fully formed from day one. Very rare that the Sumi pattern will change much.
