I love the old non lit LCD screens but I can DEFINITELY see why people prefer a backlight. I had one of those light accessories as a kid for my GBC 😂

My first shiny Pokémon was a Machoke in Pokémon Crystal. I had thought the Red Gyrados was the only different colored Pokémon and thought my game was glitching out. Thankfully, I was able to catch it and show it to my brothers.

2:00 Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but when you A+B+Start+Select reset it doesn't fully reset the RNG so you have better ods to catch a shiny. If you power cycle you restart the RNG.

I am a new Pokémon fan. In August 2024 I played my first game Pokémon violet and fell in love with the series. I want to play the previous games so badly but the barrier to entry is just too high. I’m a student and only work part time, so I just can’t justify spending so much of my paycheque on scalped games. Especially in Canadian dollars :,( rip. Also I want to say WOW this is an amazing video. Great pace and editing. It’s always a treat to see quality pkmn content on KZbin. :D

Great vid. Congrats on the great game finds and shiny! I’ve almost finished my Gameboy and Gameboy color Pokemon collection with two modded GBCs. I figured GBA is the next step! So, for my birthday I’ve dusted off my old GBA SP and am getting a copy of Firered and a new reprint copy of the guide. I can’t wait to see Kanto in a few more pixels compared to Yellow.

Shiny hunting has never been my thing, but this is is a great video. Very interesting to watch. I have replace a GBA SP shell before and it brought back good memories. (Bulbasaur should be named Gnuttsache, yes I know it is missing an e, but character limit)

Shinies I've found since first playing pokemon: 1. Platinum: Shiny Bibarel, game crashed mid-battle. 2. X: Shiny Tentacool, game file corrupted the next day. 3. Ruby: Shiny Zigzagoon, game crashed mid-battle. 4. Silver: Shiny Gyrados, doesn't count. 5. Ruby again: Shiny Magneton, the only one I have to this day.

I restarted a bootleg leaf green I'd bought in the late 2010s. Reset hunted my starter, specifically looking for Bulbasaur as well. It only took me 96 tries. Great video.

Since then I've successfully hunted for a shiny Lapras (Let's Go) and Ralts (Omega Ruby) Also randomly encountering a shiny Furfrou in an Ultra Moon playthrough

its good to see players hunting shinies these days, I remember when I got my first shiny starter and it was a treeco. It was even more awesome when I found out that it was a modest nature with very high to almost perfect IV except for its speed. I still got my save file until now. 😊

came for shiny hunt, got gameboy modding. Hell yeah. I just modded my own OG 001 SP last weekend with the ExtremeRate irridescent blue/purple shell. It's sleeeeeek. I also did some shiny hunting and reclaimed a Spinda in Emerald that had been lost to time.

I tried hunting on my gameboys for Charmander, but boy... i do not be having the patience XDDDD. got the hardware for heartgold too but i'm grinding for the battle frontier on that file! gear 3 gameboys, (1 custom cased) 1 ds 1x (og) emerald 1x (repro) ruby 1x leafgreen (not sure if real or repro) 1x (og + case) fire red 1x (og + case) heart gold

Saying capturing your first shiny, young, in Y AND stuck with you your whole life all at once makes me feel SO old 😭 My first shiny was a Tenatcool caught on the coast of Dewford in sapphire. Then Gyrados in Crystal lol. Then Doduo in safari zone Emerald. The first shiny I ever saw was through my first play through. Petalburg woods. Wurmple. I did not know it was special. Didn't have any pokeballs. And actually thought I could go BACK and get it 😢. Then I saw the berry trees grow. Thought the sparkles ✨ were somehow related to the sparkle pokemon. Because I didn't have access to Internet or other players. I called them sparkle Pokemon. 😊
