Hi, is it possible to make a video on your high school courses, grades, overall averages, extracurriculars etc. I think it will help a lot of high school students wanting to get into UBC. Thanks!

Can you please tell us about the scholarships you got at UBC and how you got them? I got accepted and am an international student so that is pretty vital for my financial well-being haha

Hey great video! I’m pretty interested in UBC but I live in the US, and I was wondering if there were a few US students and is it harder for international students to get accepted?
@ShinyStarShy5 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of US students and a lot of people with dual citizenship. I know a bunch of people from different states who went to UBC and loved it. I don't think it's too hard for international students to get accepted. I think UBC has a pretty high number of how many international students they can accept.

I want to go to UBC for media studies but it seems very hard to get in because it only has 40 seats, would you say you had a strong portfolio?
@ShinyStarShy5 жыл бұрын
Hey Annie! I'm actually editing a video talking about the media studies program, so look for that in the coming week! I was in the first round of students going through the program, so my application was a little bit different and I was already at UBC when I got accepted. I'd say that my portfolio was fairly strong. I think that if you show you're serious about media and have some pieces to show for it (whether it's an essay or photos or videos), then you have a fairly good shot!

Ahh I wanna try for Ubc cheer because I aged out of all-star! How is the team environment? Is tumbling necessary to make the team? :D
@ShinyStarShy6 жыл бұрын
angela wang fully recommend trying out!!! It was one of the highlights of my university experience. Tumbling isn't necessary at all! A lot of people on the team didn't have tumbling. If you look up UBC cheer on Facebook, you can find all the tryout information ♥️

@ShinyStarShy5 жыл бұрын
@Tyler Haraf I can't talk too much about the difference in courses since I've never taken a class there, but the UBC campus is 10x bigger and way prettier. Also the cities are just completely different. Vancouver is a much bigger city, whereas Victoria is pretty laid back and a slower pace of life. If you can, I would definitely recommend visiting the campuses to get a feel of what it's like! I did a campus tour of UBC and that completely convinced me to go there

Yes! They have a really wide range of diversity at the school
@jini2shoes6 жыл бұрын
there are hardly any black ppl here - a black ubc student
@oneofthetrasians6 жыл бұрын
Yeah ubc is a very ethnically diverse school (I think its the most diverse in N. America or Canada) but there isn't a big black population here. That being said I'd say the overall campus culture is still very accepting.
