It’s that weird combo of luck and work required for anything to be successful. You can put in the time and effort building a foundation, but if you don’t get that “spark” and catch the right eyes or ride the right trend it might not come to anything. But if you don’t do it then your chances of catching that spark drop to almost nothing. I’m glad that Shion was found by Hololive and said yes. It granted us this Harvard-Grad garlic kusogaki

It works the other way around too. If you get that lucky break, but don't have the skills or work ethic to capitalize on it, then most likely your "reward" will be a lot smaller than it could have been, or even be lost entirely. In other words, skill and work are needed to take advantage of lucky opportunities.

There’s the saying ‘Luck is when Preparation meets Opportunity’. Lucky people are able to fully capitalise on rare, unique opportunities in their lives because they have already set a solid foundation or prepared adequately beforehand. It’s true that Cover corp has benefitted heavily from COVID, but so did many other companies, especially AnyColor. And yet, Cover now stands at the top of the Vtuber industry because they were able to fully capitalise on their momentum by making sound decisions and good investments. Whereas many companies failed to replicate the kind of success and growth Cover enjoyed, only enjoying brief waves of growth before tumbling down altogether. Even Gura, who many consider to be lucky for being there at the right time at the right place, has proven for years now that she truly has what it takes to be the #1 Vtuber and is not just a flash in a pan, having retained her popularity growth from COVID and still continuing to grow today. There were many others who also debuted with high CCVs, but they struggle to retain their success from debut for long.

Wow, what a clip. It's so true, you had the "foundation" of Hololive in Sora and Roboco, and then the 1st generation, and then Shion and Aqua and the rest of 2nd gen... and all of this happened in 2018. So here's the funny thing: besides Sora, think of the personalities of every one of these vtubers. They are all "winging it" kind of people. Could you imagine a world where Aki or Haachama or Shion or Roboco answered the wrong ad, and got attached to a black company or even a scamming organization? As Shion basically said, "Yeah, it's surprising that it DIDN'T happen!" 😆 Thank goodness for the people running Hololive at the time, it must have been hard on them too.

Normally they say, "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity". To be honest, none of the principles apply here.
