there are type of person who once the hobby they love becomes a job, they started to hate it. because once something become a job, you cannot do whatever you want like when it is hobby. it becomes a commitment to make the job works. ppl who reached this stage usually already in a well off situation that they have room to think where they wanna go next

Yep, that's pretty much why I don't really agree with 'if you work a job you like, you'll never work a day in your life', which is BS. Even if you do make your hobby became a career, make sure to have hobbies that doesn't make money, not everything need to be monetized.

🤞. Honestly it doesn't to be strick. They don't produce products by demand. The talents themselves are the resource. The merch sold are because of their existence. Ahhh poor Shion, I think a lot of us know what's like to go, "I want to have a job doing what I like, but turning what I like into my job feels bad." But even besides that, ego-searching to see how people react to a tweet, shows so well how hard it is to separate the "practical" side of streaming from the "emotional" side. She literally CANNOT avoid social media as a streamer.

Glad to see the kusogaki witch back in action. The break from streaming and the digital detox was worth it it seems. She also gained some introspection about how she wants to approach things as a job versus a fun hobby with benefits. Doesn't hurt to think about that when you're staring at the end of the college experience. 😅 I'm glad Shion made it back to properly send off Aqua before her graduation from Hololive. These two are quite the pair, and I'm going to miss that once it's gone.

I can kind of understand what she means. It happens to everyone in any field, more so for dedicated people that integrated their jobs into their lives.... Even if you were born to do something out of sheer talent and or from your own will. This is why people always say, it hits less when you play a character and wear a mask to protect yourself... but these girls are basically entertaining us with alot of their true selves. You eventually hit that wall. The one question that makes you question your relevancy and you start feeling less motivated about what you used to do.. What im worried about is that sometimes even breaks can't solve that concern your routines just catch up to you that your lost when stepping into a new field and its overwhelming. Shion is at that critical turning point that we all fear, and i hope her fans stay with her and can remind her that what she's experiencing is normal, it will always be there and its something she must accept. She just needs to look back and ask herself again what pushed into doing this again? is it for her fans? Its time to redefine her purpose on why she started, and why she had fun and loved doing this in the first place

Thank you for translating this important scene of this stream! As a shiokko, I’m really happy to see her again for the first time in 8 months (I thought she would be on hiatus for at least a year). And personally though I’ve always been thinking of something like what she said here. Even with such a hardship, she has chosen to come back and I really look up to her and also am grateful to her. Some people are pessimistic and it is also understandable, especially in regards to Aqua, but I was able to see that she’s enjoying the environment she is in now from, for example, the scene she was talking about other members (I’m personally glad to hear her talking about Gura btw). All we can do is to support and enjoy watching her stream. I hope from the bottom of my heart that she will have a great time from here.

Well, even before becoming Shion, she already streamed long enough on her fanbox... no wonder she been thinking about whether "streaming is job" for her or not... Also, once she finished college she would really need to start thinking about career & future job... There's probably already a job fair introduction being held by her college (usually 1 year before graduation) to introduce entry level occupation. Hololive already become very big that doing streaming as "part time job" (like Aki or Mel in the past) won't be possible anymore, especially now that Cover went absolutely ham on 3D live & real-life events.

On one hand, I'm obviously happy to see her back from her hiatus, but on other hand I'm sad that she had to return in these circumstances. As to why she take her hiatus, remember that she's been doing this for 6 years without interruption, basically. And she's one of the youngest members of Hololive, so quite understandable she had a hard time figuring what and how to do things. They didn't expect to be a known Internet-figure in 6-7 years. Most of them used the Internet for mere entertainment and started as hobbyists. Now, they are expected to "be professionals" and are kind of stuck between "enjoyment" vs "success". I imagine all of the girls are trying their hardest everyday to balance these two sides where they can experience both while taking care of themselves in the process. Hope Shion and the others girls don't push themselves too far.

Shion only chose to do a part-time job while in high school. She's in a position of privilege, but like... they never imagined signing up for this. People like Marine have been in the workforce. Those who joined from college or in later gens know this could be a career. It's either a choice they made going in or a choice they know they would easily make again because of life experience. Shion and Haachama though... this life chose them, and they have nothing to compare to. It's no surprise to feel lost without that reference.

It's not strange at all for someone to have these existential thoughts after streaming for so long and having this become such a big part of your life. 'Is this really what I want to do? I've already committed so much of my time to it, what if it's the wrong choice?' I think it's completely normal for someone to have thoughts like this. It’s complicated because doing something you love for a living can be extremely liberating but also requires a certain seriousness. I think not thinking of it as a “job” but not a “hobby” exactly either is the real way, it’s no longer a no stakes play time like a hobby but it’s also not something you do just for someone else (how I view a job: as something you wouldn’t do if they weren’t paying you). I think a true pro mindset in the entertainment or arts is one that rejects thinking of it as a job or as a hobby, that keeps the aspect of doing what you want and having fun while also doing it at a high level.

Shion is "always expect for the worst" person, and also the most introverted as well. That why I really like her, and I wish her the strength to deal with whatever come in the future

As i usually said since long ago to these girls (understood or not), there's nothing wrong with taking a break once in a while, not to burn themselves out for the sake of entertaining us, it's exactly for these kinds of reasons..🗿 Glad that she took such advices (obviously not from me, but anyways), hopefully she won't take things too seriously from now on, our sassy garlic is too precious..😌

Not wanting to take something you like to do as a job is a curse. You either walk away and regret it or stay there and hope that you won't regret it. But it will be fine that's what life is about anyway.

Idk if i spent my whole life on the internet too! A deep part of me would think i’m wasting my life away recording & streaming… And it feels like I’m on a time limit I would go crazy! Like i need to do this & that before i get old… Also wouldn’t like to think of streaming like full time job! So somewhat makes sense! (Probably not related at all) Anyway she really needed that break.

No matter what your opinion on this situation, it is admirable for both side. The entertainer realized that she need mental break, and the company realized that it is important to give her time to reduce her activity for as long as she need. In this entertainment industry, such privilege is very important and both side realized that.

Shion is so cute~ it's just jealous people planting seeds for other dumbs to anti/cancel her. So what if she's caught playing valorant instead of streaming 3 years ago? So what if she was dating? fake or true, does it even matter? Antis who aren't even real fans feeling entitled??

I think it's the whole "idol" title that's throwing them off. Typically it would be a whole "scandal" if idols were caught dating because (at least on paper) it goes against their contract with the agency. However, Matsuri said in a stream a while ago that there are actually no restrictions on Hololive members being in relationships, so it doesn't matter if anyone is dating or married or whatever. Antis just bring up those speculations because that's what they think would harm the talents, even though it really doesn't matter at all.

MMmmmmmm.. She's have a point though, It's not just about "Cover getting Big". It's about "She's(Murasaki Shion) getting Big. in one side there's her fanbase then Cover+Hololive Fanbase then VTuber Fanbase then Internet Content Creator/Streamer Fanbase then the Combinations of above Fanbase then in the other side of the "Opposite" side of mentioned party then there's the bottom feeders that will use any type of "drama" caused by combinations above to got pennies from the Internet Engagement and all of them equally rabid and unhinged when putting Internet Anonymity masks/PFP. If someone that in her positions doesn't have the correct person to gives a correct advice or pep-talk things can goes awry fasts. Then Holopro Managerial competence is the only defining points on how Holopro will survives of "Getting too Big" And even if Holopro Managerial competence is Top Notch it's all come back to every Holopro talent if they actually want to reach out and ask council for it. In the end Like it or Not, "It's just a Job" is the correct statement, anyone can always quit if they feels it doesn't right anymore.
