Colour Dodge layer... I've been painstakingly rendering the reflective look for ages when I could have just done a colour dodge layer... well, you live and learn. Thanks for the great tutorial.

Great tutorial as always Scott! You've taught so many people so much just over the internet, you have all the right to feel very proud to be a great teacher, and to be able to do such thing within 10-20 mins. I have a request, if you find the time within your hands: I would love to see a video about your thought process during general design during sketching, or line work i.e. rhythm structure, choice of curves, line weight and general shapes you see whilst inventing designs. Thanks very much.

Thank you for the answer. Now I saw 60% all your other videos and now I know you do it quite often! It's easier working this way! Expecially for people like me that is more "technical" than "artistic"!

I think that one you are referring to is just a hard edged ellipse set with flow and opacity tied to pen pressure and a bit of multiplying texture added as well.

hi friend, Intuos 2 is great. Been running mine for many years now. It's a great tablet and cheaper than all the new stuff. Bought mine used on ebay years ago, never had a problem. The bigger the size the better!

I work in Photoshop much like I would work in acrylic or gouache. Meaning I build up my colors and values by glazing over an underlying sketch with a brush set to have a lot of pressure sensitivity or low opacity.

Scott I'm going to buy your books when they come out. But If I had a choice, I would rather buy a video version of your book. So I can paint along side with your video. But please! Don't stop free video Fridays.

Koutetsu, you can work out the design first in grey scale before doing the colorizing I do this process quite a lot as it is much faster and makes it easier to focus on the design without being swayed by color.

How to Render is still a work-in-progress. How to Draw is currently at press and is slowly reaching production. Next up is the recording of the 26 video tutorials that are linked to the How to Draw book. Then work will resume again on the rendering book. It's been so hard to get these done I cannot give you an accurate release date at this point. I can say though that it is happening.

Hey Scott! Love your work. Huge fan!!! But how are you toggling so fast between different colors/tones during the "sculpting" part of the tutorial?? I'm baffled. haha
@RobotJeeg11 жыл бұрын
May I ask you something very basics? Do you thing it is possible to work on shapes and design using only greyscale (values) and adding the colours as a last step? Or is always better to add the colours at almost the beginning like you do in this video?

Just to show how I use mask layers, this was not a full rendering demo otherwise I would keep it and start rendering more details.
