For those who observed what was done here, let me add some critique lest you try the same. Most soil conditions will not be stable enough to keep his "foundation" from unevenly sinking and shifting, especially after some freeze/thaw cycles. To prevent this situation the bottom of his wall should be below the frost line whatever that may be in his area.

He perhaps didn't observe that the corner blocks of a shipping container stand proud from the rest of the bottom of the container by about 5/8", therefore the only part of his "foundation" that is supporting anything is the four corners, that is until the corners start sinking or he placed some filler or shim material the entire length of the "foundation". If he did shim/seal it up later he will have condensation issues which will begin to rot the wood floor and rust the supporting steel floor joists. That being said, his container is designed to hold about 30 tons of content supported only at the four corners. That before mentioned gap will be perfect environment for infestation of mice/rodents, chipmunks, other unwanted insects such as hornets and termites, and he will have ground hogs easily digging under his "foundation" to declare that dry protected space as their own.

Four piers with spread footings extending below the frost line that elevates the container off the ground solves all of the issues I have mentioned here. With my two containers I elevated them 8" off the ground and placed chicken wire weighted down with stone in the area under the container. This prevents the larger burrowing animals from digging under the container. Anchoring the container as he was contemplating is not necessary unless you are in a hurricane prone area. The surviving trees seen in the video shows he is not. Be aware that placing any concrete might draw the attention of your local taxing authorities to deem this a taxable structure and trigger a property tax reassessment. In my observation, people who merely place them on the ground on four blocks don't run into this problem.

How are you getting away with permits? I own 10 acres in Quincy rural and it seems like nothing is allowed.

I wish they replied I want to know also. I been looking at properties all over Nevada city , colfax areas but haven’t pulled trigger

Generally most jurisdictions outside of cities don't require a permit or trigger a property tax reassessment to place a shipping container or semi trailer on your property for storage. But since he built a foundation of sorts that may change the equation.

Sorry, I just saw this comment. We actually didn’t go through with building the container house because of permits. I went and applied for all of the permits after I bought it and got denied. So much for that idea lol
