Awesome to hear you like them so much. Shrimping is very addictive lol. Just wait until you start seeing babies, then its a whole new level of excitement. Unless there is a serious problem, the less you mess with them, the better they do lol. It's just all about setting up that perfect natural environment.

Hi, for separating the 'fluff', why not put it in a bucket and use a paint stirrer on a drill to fluff it up? If it fly out of bucket, put a hole in a bucket lid, and thread the stirrer through the hole.

I love the skittles that I bought! They all survived and 3 are berried now! I would love to have purchased more but can’t afford to get more. Hopefully I will have many more in a few weeks. The moss had a few pond snails but I managed to get them out of the tank as soon as I saw them. I wish that the moss was offered from snail free tanks but I am satisfied.

Snails are good and a necessary part any aquarium in my opinion. Snails are good and you only have any many as you need to balance the tank.

I get pond snails in newer tanks or tanks I have reset in the last year, in my tanks the ramshorns and mts always take over, pond snails are quickest to reproduce so always start off, but lose out to others over time.

Awesome video Mark! What are your best to worse selling types? Seems like red ones would be super popular and the green ones not so much cause they would blend in with the plants
@MarkShellyAquatics2 жыл бұрын
Since I only sale what I breed I adjust my prices to what I can produce. For example when I got my bloody mary pond going my bloody marys were just as good as when I was selling them for 5 bucks each, lowered them to 3 bucks because I am making so many and they are one of my top sellers at 3 bucks, they weren't at 5. Green jades I couldn't make enough at 5 bucks, so I raised them to 8 bucks, and still couldn't make enough which is why greens are out of stock for time being. But that is because green jades that even approach the quality of mine are selling for 12 or 13 bucks each at other places. So even if they are not the most popular line they are a hard to find one and I have one of the best there is and I'm not charging 12 or 13 bucks a shrimp. Reds are most popular in hobby, but not for me lol. Reds are imported by the millions and sale for 10 for 18 bucks at a lot of places for mid quality reds. So while I send healthy home bred shrimp compared to the masses that are imported they are importing them by the millions for less than a dime each and I can't sale them as cheap on a small home bred scale and it be worth it for me. When I have lots and lots of reds I will sale them 20 for 45 and they sale pretty good at that price. Blue jellies at 5 bucks are my best seller, and its not close. It goes much deeper than just what colors people like the best. A lot has to do with market value and how fast I can produce them, which there for determines what I can sale them for. Lol shrimpenomics lol

Do you use heat packs in the Winter when the temps are in the 30s and the 40s? Asking for a friend lol!
@MarkShellyAquatics Жыл бұрын
Yep, pretty much every order I have shipped out since mid November has had a 96 hour heat pack included. Even plant only orders. Its regularly in the 20s during the winter in Indiana, then in spring only use when needed. Try to avoid shipping at all when my temps or buyers temps get much below 20. High teens is ok for a bit, but heat packs, styrofoam liners and insulation can only do so much lol.
@aqualungs77 Жыл бұрын
@Mark Shelly Aquatics awesome thanks again! I plan to wrap the heat pack in newspaper and tape it to the side of the box and then add a cardboard divider?

Can you help me with mine? I’m using breather bags insulation and a small ice pack no more than 10 in the bag, but they have died twice now.
@MarkShellyAquatics7 ай бұрын
Better off not using ice pack, insulation is key, I use foam box liners now, with the cellulose insulation, hardly every any problems.

mark what the best way to get green water out of my aquarium without using chemicals
@MarkShellyAquatics2 жыл бұрын
Best way is less nutrients and less light. Or you could get an ultra violet clarifier, but then you will probably get hair algae. Too much light and too much nutrients in water.

How do u get the fish bags? Amazon?
@MarkShellyAquatics2 жыл бұрын
Ali Express or ebay, I usually get at least 500 at a time so they are much more affordable when buying those numbers. I had been using a seller from china on aliexpress, but that seller disappeared during covid. Only ones you'll find on amazon are people like myself who buy 500 to 1000 at a time, find a bag they like better and sale them off, usually its like 50cents to 1 buck a bag, like 10 bags for 10 bucks type of thing. I cant remember what I pay, about to order more. Seems like its usually around 200 bucks for 500 to 700.
