Being on bridge of a ship means a lot and it also the life that we carry with us along with million dollar of cargo. Navigating a ship is a huge responsibility and require certain qualification and competency.
On a Ship you will have following officers to look after the Navigational watch.
No.1 Master (Having overall command of the ship)
No.2 Chief Mate (Second in command and looks after the stability and cargo along with the maintenance of the ship with support and teamwork of other officer)
No.3 Second Officer (responsible for the navigational Equipment and Voyage planning as per master advice and incharge of Ladling items under supervision of Chief Mate.)
No.4 Third Officer Incharge of navigation and Take care of all ships LSA and FFA items under supervision of Chief Mate.)
Like For you driving a car on Road you must have licence similarly for navigating a ship you must have COC (certificate of competency)
Navigating a Ship is simple as well as tough as climbing Everest because it not only involves the cargo but also the life you are carrying along with it.
So, to Navigate all officer should be rested properly and fit for duty.
So that he can take all the necessary actions to avoid any close quarter situation and collision.
