I was on the ship fighting the fire back in 2003 . It was the most dangerous fire we had fought as the whole ship was covered in ice . The open deck showed the inside was burning giving off beautiful colors from the various metals and oils etc. The harbor was ice with a layer of snow on top and we could see one set of foot prints going there and back . I'm pretty sure there wasn't any investigation as we were the first on site and on the ship that morning . Glad no one was injured .

She is all but gone now, over the past week or so, Canadian Government have had a team down there breaking it up and carting it away.

I boarded it and explored well before the fire. (Canoeing) I don't recall an engine and the masts are false in the sense that they aren't intended for sail (They stop at the deck). There was a small industrial type kitchen below deck. Where the 'Captains' quarters would be in the stern, was where a dinning party could occur. It was still under unfinished construction but was clad in wall to wall wood.

I've used that area as a launch for my canoe. I've been around it (A ton of perch and some HUGE carp around it). There is/was a deck on the port side and I thought about going on board but never did. If I'm not mistaken if someone wanted to they could assume ownership. I think the yaught club would want moorning fees though which is probably why it will rot there. Other than scrap I'm not sure what value there is in it, I don't think it would be economically feasible to bring it back to seaworthiness.

Great vid. Did u find out who owns the ship? Are there any plans for removal? And how is it anchored at that sight? Always look at it when driving on the QEW. Thanks for checking it out.

Carole Banting looks like it is sat on the floor of the Lake, the anchor is not lowered. From what I have found on the ship there is no plans to move it, though there was interest from a few groups, one that I found was a suggestion to sink it further out and use it for diving.
