Omg miss Bassey is in my top 20 female voices of all time, full stop. She is unique, powerful, yet also tender. Greay tone and a legendary vibrato (not many cam match). I also love her belting & her emotion she puts into it. A true singer and performer!

Wow! That was great to watch! This Welsh lady has such an amazing powerful voice. She has been performing since the 50's. Shirley Bassey is best known for her recordings of the theme songs from 3 James Bond films in the 60's & 70's "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever" & "Moonraker". In 2020 she became the first female artist to chart an album in the Top 40 of the UK Albums Chart in 7 consecutive decades with her album "I Owe It All To You".

You mentioning her being like an opera singer is so on point. She was told at 48 if she had had training her vocal ( and wide octave range) she would have been. However I think she would have been bored. Such a shame outside Europe she’s no longer recognised. She was top of the bill in Las Vegas in 60s. Also she doesn’t have to prove herself. You are right on! I am from the USA, and for the life of me I'll never understand how this lady can be completely ignored when it comes to being on a GREAT VOCALIST list. My lord, I've seen Britney Spears on many lists, and Shirley is no where to be found. It is frankly irritating! Barbra Streisand said many decades ago that Shirley was the only artist she would pay to see. And, both ladies have attended performances by the other over the decades. Shirley has toured the world, and including the USA for 6 decades, and her shows were always sold out. People have referred to Shirley as 'the Belter' over the years, but she can sing a soft/lullaby equally with perfect pitch and diction. She hates the term, 'Belter', when it applies to her. She really is more of a 'Classical POP' singer.

In her prime a lot of people considered her the greatest vocalist in the world, male or female. Her only competition was Aretha, but A LOT of people viewed her as the GOAT. How do I know? Playing the Copa was the pinnacle back then. Shirley was there every year. The owner was one of my fathers best friends and he told me Shirley sold out even faster than Sinatra!

You should really check out Joe Longthorne (RIP). A massively underrated British artist who made his fame doing impersonations of the likes of Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey. That's gotta give you an idea of the calibre of this man's voice. He was impressive with his impersonations and also a phenomenal singer in his own right. So much power and range. Anybody in the comments enjoying this should also check him out. I promise you, he won't disappoint.
