I couldn't agree more. I picked up my 24x36 at the end of Oct. - actually picked it up at their shop. It's so much easier to maintain temps over my old smoker! The most I've cooked at one time so far was 5 pork butts, and that wasn't even half full. So glad I bought this!

Thank you for watching. I agree with you. Honestly, l would roll my SHIRLEY up to any pit. Workhorse, Millscale, TMG, and all the other big dogs. People love cookers like sports teams. They love to cheer on their builder. However, end of the day. A Shirley is a Shirley. As Paul says, “What is known does not need to be explained.”

Great Review. I'm curios now that the Shirley's are making direct flow, what would you purchase direct flow or reverse flow, I really like the cabinet doors on reverse flow.

That is a good question. The footprint on the traditional flow was pretty large. The cost was well over 4k last time I checked. I thought hard about selling the 24x36 and the Texas Original to fund buying a Shirley traditional flow. I decided in the end that the modified offset I have now scratched that itch. The capacity and ease of cooking on the 24x36 is hard to beat at the price point. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one.

great video! What is the height from the top detachable table to the ground? trying to decide if I'm going to get the stainless steel with my order or buy a stainless steel prep table from amazon

It is probably the same height as a prep table. It is nice having the stainless when you pull out the racks and the meat drips. I added my own stainless shelf for less than 10 bucks. If I had the money I would have paid for a Shirley stainless but they are so expensive. What kind of Shirley are you going to get ?

I have always used a pipe on that opposite side of the firebox instead of on the same side. Does it not make that big of a difference? Or am I just old school that's stuck in my 35ys of smokin. Great vids by the way!! Thanks

The difference really comes down to the design of the smoker. I have run traditional flow(exhaust on the opposite side of the firebox) and reverse flow ( smoke travels under a steel plate and then comes back to an exhaust on the same side as firebox) and the main difference I have noticed is that the reverse flow cooks a tad faster. Both require you to manage a good fire, know your rubs, meats, time and temp to produce good bbq. I imagine you are doing just fine after 35 years of bbq. What smoker do you like to use ?
