love, love, love FA, but this is a mess. it's clear they can't hear themselves or the other, which is why half of the song is out of key and the harmonies are off. real shame :-(
@ShellEProductions3 жыл бұрын
Agreed! And it isn't a negative thing, it's simply what happened. I hope they have another chance someday to sing together again.
@davidlambert77253 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's off key. A lot of singers occasional (or in some cases, always) sing slightly off pitch. The emphasis being 'slightly. It can even sound good - and in any case - wouldn't be obvious to most people. However, if two singers duetting are slightly off key (especially if one is slightly sharp and the other slightly flat), or one is in pitch and the other isn't, it'll make the problem more obvious. In extreme circumstances, singers shouldn't really need to hear their own voices via amplification - PA or monitors. In circumstances where the backing is too loud, they can resort to 'hearing' or, more accurately, 'feeling' their voices through their skulls which is something we all feel but aren't aware of. We also feel our voices in our heads & chests - try it - hum a low note from deep in your chest and you'll feel it in your ribs. It can be tricky for singers to compete with an overly loud accompaniment but the secret is to cover one ear, especially for the higher and lower pitches. It doesn't look great but it helps because it makes the resonance more obvious. The most difficult thing for singers to get right in these situations is tone and intensity etc. Singing in key shouldn't be as much of a problem and a lot of singers would be able to sing familiar material from start to finish - in its original key - without even an opening note for guidance. Especially if it's their own material. Asking a good singer to sing slightly off key can be a tough one. This is often as alien to them as asking a tone deaf person to sing in key. There's no more obvious example of the ability of a musician to 'feel' music than Evelyn Glennie, the deaf percussionist. She feels the whole performance - her own plus that of the orchestra, aided with a musical score of course. Look her up on KZbin - some fascinating talks and performances.
