About the intro: After WuKong got his Buddhahood, he still did not want to be restrained. ErlangShen (the 3 eye guy), the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Giant Spirit led the heavenly soldiers and generals to attack Huaguo Mountain again. When Wukong and ErlangShen fought fiercely, the Tightening Curse that had disappeared appeared again. Wukong was defeated by ErlangShen and died. His soul turned into a huge stone and his remains turned into 6 spiritual objects, corresponding to the six roots, scattered in the world. Many years later in 2024, the player, who plays the role of the destined one, embarked on a journey to find the lost spiritual objects, rescue and resurrect Wukong. About the ending: First, before the destined one made the choice of whether to wear the golden hoop or not, Wukong did not impose his will to resist on him. He hoped that the man of destiny would have the freedom to choose. Even if the destined one chose to wear the golden hoop (the general ending for many players), Wukong could not interfere; but when the destined one chose not to wear it, he would see the truth before Wukong's death and inherit the will to resist. Second, as a monkey made by heaven and earth, Wukong has no father or mother, escaped the cycle of life and death, and should have no constraints or worries. But after grew up and traveled west, he had grandchildren to protect, as well as a master and younger brothers. These became his weaknesses, and were also used by heaven to take advantage of him. This is the same logic of why no Resident Evil character gets turned into zombie even though they get bitten several times during gameplay. @@jeffpen4622 Wukong is dead in all the ending, he is not even dead at the ending but they confirm he is dead briefly before the ending, so the ending you get doesn't matter. The main difference between the endings is whether or not you put on Wukong's cursed headband. It's the last piece of his garb you have to collect. You get each piece by killing bosses in the last chapter, but the final piece you get from killing the final boss. In the true ending you defeat the boss but then don't put on the headband, meaning you would be more powerful than the original Wukong himself as the headband is cursed.

​@amihartz no the last essence of Wukong is not the headband because that is part of the heavenly court. The last piece of Wukong is his mind and its locked away with Erlang Shen in his 3rd eye. The old monkey/heavenly court do not know this and it was a secret plan by both Wukong and Erlang that Erlang had to to kill Wukong then wait for his proper reincarnation to give him back his memories so he did not put on the headband when it was time. That's the whole point of the Erlang boss fight, he is fulfilling his duty and promise to Wukong, making sure he outsmart the court, gets his freedom and can go about revenge or peace. Which Reincarnated Wukong goes after war with the court as seen as him summoning his staff after taking his drink in honor of his friends and even the ones who betrayed him die ot being pressured by the court i.e demon bull king

The original Wukong escaped the Samsara leaving his old self. But the Samsara itself needs Wukong as the personification of resistance against order, it's like the Yin for the Yang. Wukong existence is needed to keep the balance in check in the universe. that's why someone else needed to becomes another Wukong. Since the original Wukong already ascended into the Buddhahood, someone else will bear the Wukong's earthly idea. My assumption, the Wukong that we've seen in the beginning of the game also non original Wukong, he's just another choosen one that inherited Wukong's idea. That's explained why Erlang and heaven's order antagonizing him aggressively, because this Wukong is the threat for the heaven. This game is the story about Wukong's rebirth journey.

There are 2 BIG unkown details: Who was the one who chanted the Golden Headband Spell on Sun Wukong when fighting Erlang Shen? The Heavenly Court seems to be the main antagonist in this game, but we haven't seen them yet. It could possibly be linked to the Buddha on a darker and deeper level. Hopefully, everything will be clarified in the DLC or there will be a sequel.

Just my guess, after the Tang monk passed,his three students lost their trust in heaven and decided to leave. I have a theory, since the celestial court would send those mongrel to guard Huaguo mountain, outside of the stone, of course they wouldn't missed out to place someone inside of the stone to keep track of the Wukong resurrection. So who are that old monkey tbh? Judging by how each of Wukong full armor set could took a living form, why wouldn't that headband which is given by Guanyin Bodhisattva took a living form too? Hence my theory is that old monkey is actually the living form of that headband which is given by Guanyin to serve as Lingshan spy to monitor the resurrection progress at the finish line of the journey and bind the new Wukong once again with that headband constraint once he is about to resurrect.

Meaning that the "Destined One", the people, has not truly awaken to the truth yet. or Ending 2: (Also believed to be the true ending by many at this point): To reclaim his birth right through his own six relics (Sadindriya in Buddhism): Eye, Ear, Nose, Tongue, Body, & Will that "sees, hears, smells, tastes, feels, & WANTS" the truth. And truly be awaken and be himself, free himself from the shackles of the Golden Circlet (Indoctrination & mental bond), to fight the war against the Heavenly Court (CCP) once more. This time, with a clear heart and mind.

Wukong was a lowly borne monkey fighting against the celestial heavens (the imperial government), story was told as a mockery to the oppressive government bodies in ancient China, to avoid the storyteller/author being prosecuted by them. Still not convinced? Look up Yang Qi (楊奇）The art director of Black Myth Wukong was an anti-CCP rebel who took a picture showing him flipping a bird in front of Mao Zedong's picture in Tiananmen Square. The Chinese Nationalist diedhards are cancelling him hard now on the internet. Look it up. 🤣 I believe this work is his genuine call for an awakening to the people of China to stand against the corruption & tyranny of the CCP authority.

The real story is this: at the beginning of the story, Erlang Shen is actually a friend of Wukong (AKA Monkey King). They both have the experience of rebelling against the Heavenly Court, so they appreciate each other. Wukong wants to get rid of the tight hoop and seek freedom, but Sun Wukong finds that the tight hoop can only be lifted if he dies. Therefore, Erlang Shen and Wukong reach a gentleman's agreement. Erlang Shen is responsible for killing Wukong in a show for the Heavenly Court to see. Wukong knows that six magic objects will be split after his death. After several years, there will be a man of destiny who will overcome many difficulties, collect all six magic objects, revive the spirit of the Monkey King, inherit his will, and truly gain freedom. The first five of these six magic objects are placed by Erlang Shen on the monsters in the first five chapters, making them a test for the man of destiny. If the five monsters are successfully defeated, it can be proved that the man of destiny may be the chosen one. But who has the last magic item is deliberately hidden in the plot. After Wukong was killed, Erlang Shen secretly stole the last magic item when no one was paying attention, and killed all the people in heaven who witnessed him stealing it, just to make himself the last level to protect this magic item.
