In my personal opinion, the last ending "to the west" is the actual true ending. The very reason why Kuro started to seek severing his immortality is because he saw the consequences aka corruptions it brought to people. It doesn't make any sense to kill him given there are so many other forms of immortality existing even just in the small nation of Ashina. If his goal is to end immortality in general, shouldn't he seek to sever the source of his power? Going back the birthplace of the "Dragon's heritage" is the only plausible move in this sense.

The Divine Child says the Dragon's Heritage is not natural for Japan. The Divine Dragon and the Everblossom (I think they're actually the selfsame entity, but I'm not sure.) wandered from its home in the West and found Ashina, where the soil and water is ancient and nourishing enough for the Divine Dragon to take root, and thus starting all the Immortality shit. The Divine Child seeks to return the Dragon's Heritage to the West because that's where it naturally belongs, and *probably* won't cause stagnation there.

Despite what the captions say, the order of the endings seem like: Bad, good, true, and secret. Going shura is obvs bad (plus everyone and thousands more die), the good ending isn’t great but you did what you were told but the cycle seems like it’ll repeat since Sekiro became the sculptor (Hence the first sculptor was the original owner of the prosthetic arm). True ending, sekiro sacrifices himself and saves Kuro (plus you had an additional item to give Kuro). And the secret is always some plot twist/cliff-hanger/possible sneak peek to another game or DLC story. Hope this helps anyone who is confused

More like worst/bad/good/true. Because: Any story that has the main character turning into a demon is surely a horrible ending. Especially if you have to kill the only waifu in the game. Sekiro killed Kuro because he was ordered to. That’s a lack of his personal will. Which make him no different than a tool. I can’t see anything that can be called “good” about that. In the 3rd, Kuro lived and every “immortal” was slain. That’s ideal in such a mess up world. But in the 4th, Sekiro saw that the journey isn’t ending there. And as opposed to the previous three where the players chose to walk the easy path. If there are gonna be a sequel, I believe they will pick this as the “canon” ending.

From these endings, this is how I interpret: Shura ending: Sekiro obeyed the Iron Code of Shinobi instead of breaking it to have loyalty for Kuro. The Owl told him to forsake Kuro as a master, and his goal is to take over the country for himself. He sees Ashina and Interior Minister as the obstacles. The Owl got stabbed in the back by Sekiro (which is similar to Sekiro getting stabbed in the back in the burning temple scene after Lady Butterfly's boss fight). Sekiro has become a power-driven person becoming a demon known as Shura by endlessly fighting. This is obviously bad because thousands of people died in Ashina when Sekiro becomes a demon. Immortal Severance ending: Sekiro gives the Divine Dragon's Tears. Kuro has always thought that the Dragon's Heritage is not for anyone to bear because it has corrupted the lives of people seeking immortality. The young prince bears that burden, and he wants Sekiro to end this cycle. Sekiro hesitates to kill Kuro, but he has no choice when Kuro asked him to sever the ties of immortality. Only the Mortal Blade can make this possible. The next scene shows the Wolf becoming a new sculptor (the previous sculptor probably died). From the looks of it, he seems emotionless while blankly carving the idols. Knowing that the prosthetic arm is not equipped when Emma said of a new Shinobi, this shows some kind of a cycle repeating itself. This is a sad ending where the Wolf is ordered by his master without making a personal will to show compassion. Purification ending: Here, Sekiro shows absolute loyalty to his lord. He pulls out the Mortal Blade when the Divine Heir is not conscious of his actions. The reason why he kills himself is to end the the last immortal, which is the Wolf. He sacrifices himself for Kuro to live a life of what it means to be human. We see Sekiro's grave with his Kusabimaru, and Kuro departing on his journey. It is unknown where he is going. This is a good ending because the Wolf took his life for the good of his master to embrace the meaning of humanity. Return ending: This is the ending where Sekiro and Kuro do not die. The Divine Child (the nun) holds Kuro in her heart. I don't know what she does to him by doing that. After some times, it appears that she has a journey ahead and Sekiro's path does not end there. She seeks to go to the birthplace of the Divine Dragon to the west. Sekiro walks alongside with her because he knows that his master still lives in her and he has sworn an absolute oath to protect him. In my opinion, this is a true and canon ending where the journey ahead does not end there. A dlc might be possible if From Software makes additional plot to this game.

The complete loyalty he showed till the very end is beautiful and sad at the same time.😭 The BMG as he places the mortal blade on his shoulder to severe his head makes it more emotional and sensational. Sakura petals shines and floats after he severed his own head really hits me to my core.

Damn, it didn't fully hit me until I read this. Sekiro (In that path) never wavered, and knew exactly what he was fighting for. That's what I love about fromsoft games. The lore behind them feels so vast that it's honestly too overwhelming for me to understand, but moments like that, with a blood-soaked journey before it, are always familiar. They hit so hard.

well for now its the best game from Souls series, sometimes it remind me even GoW and thats a right path to walk further, its have so japanese style of combat and more speed more dynamic that souls and etc, yes it more easy to fight enemyes but its inevitable - when in souls u have just one or two types of atack - here u have an arsenal to deal with enemy so it not survival but still hard enought to enjoy, atmosphre and surroundings epic and less depression than in souls - the mountains and temples like fresh air after endless dirty catacoms and etc.

Its not a Souls game. The one in charge of this game said that. With Sekiro they are trying to make it as un souls-like as possible. Hence no References to DS. Well there may be 1 or 2 but so far there isn't any references found to my knowledge.

@@francisdimaano2350 It's not in the souls canon, but it is a "souls" game. We have Estus Flask, Bonfires, the combat is pretty similar as a nice between of Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The way you interact with the world and lore is similar, they even reused the theme of some curse or affliction that is related to your respawning gameplay mechanic. The only thing that makes it different is that Wolf talks and you can pause the game.

True ending. You start on its path after defeating Owl and hugging a wall to eavesdrop on Kuro. Then talk to Emma and follow her steps and eventually eavesdrop. Also defeat a secret boss in Hirata Estate.

You get the only two swords able to kill you as weapons. You get a sick flaming arm. You get to back stab your father who I believe might have been the one who back stabbed you after beating lady butterfly. You succeed where the sculptor failed and become a shura instead of some incomplete demon. And you get to body ishhin and show him he's not hot shit like he thinks he is and that you're better. You then go on to 1v1 the whole nation like a badass. And it's implied you were never killed and live on killing endlessly well into the modern era likely.
