It starts with a duckweed bloom which is a sign of a growing water quality problem. It will require testing the water in order to fix the water quality issues. Otherwise the duckweed will continue to take over the pond

They will move cows fairly soon, but they have to have tests done on the house to check for asbestos and lead before they can start any work on it or move in. I don’t believe he has given a date scheduled for that or how long it will take to get results if it has already been started. That being said, it is very possible that I have missed a video here and there. It’s hard to keep up with everyone, especially on 2 platforms, but I do my best 😊

In South Louisiana we call it Duckweed. 😢 Birds and turtles can transfer it from one place to another. Its gonna takes the Kayak, a fine screen, muscles and time to remove it. Down here in small yard fish ponds it helps provides goldfish coverage and filters water. But it is fast growing and can take over a pond rather quickly.

6:34 Jake you might have better luck with some kind of small mesh net to cast out and drag to clean that pond
@Weeks2514 күн бұрын
Yeah looks like duckweed to me. I’ve only ever seen it green before but yeah it floats on top of the water with its roots hanging in the water column & it’s pretty small. Unfortunately the rake isn’t going to work. I seen a guy have this take over his whole pond that was very large. It started effecting the water an making his fish die off. He had to get as much as he possibly could out with a net, install something to aerate the water & I think he had to treat it too. The pond will end up useless as a drinking source if it’s not taken care of. I wonder if the chemical you spray would work. Worth a try!! If it were me I’d take a pool skimmer/net your parents probably have, remove as much as possible with it. And then I would try spraying with your pond stuff. It’s worth a try unless you or LE google what else would work. 🤷🏼♀️ All I know is duckweed is something people despise because it will take over very quickly & aggressively. Just one little piece in the water is all it takes.

I am assuming it's an algae of some sort. Isn't there a treatment that Lester had used in his ponds. LE should know how he takes care of the ducks and geese pond. Or is that Lester who does that for him. Anyway LE needs to learn , it's HIS farm .
@topcattrader360713 күн бұрын
I have that weed and I’ve cleared it may times but it just comes back, I use “Pond Clear” here in the UK which kills it and is safe for animals. Treat it whilst it’s still sparse like that otherwise it can get 6 inches thick and choke up the pond 🤯

Make a prim😂ative water purifier with a sump pump, a plastic tote some rocks, sand charcoal, hay or grass pipe and a floating intake valve. Use the sump pump pipe, and intake valve powered by some kind of generator. Then make a primative filter withe the tote filled with rocks, charcoal, sand and hay. You can find the directions online. Be sure to add a water outlet back into the pond to remove the red algae. If you can find directions for a ram pump then you won't need the generator or sump pump. This is just a suggestion.
@tamaracrook110113 күн бұрын
Maybe a closer photo of the leaf/plant might help to identify what it is. But, if you skim it off of the pond , take that debris away from the pond so it won't come back. If it's azolla, I read it multiplies very fast. Duckweed is not as fast. Treatment after removal probably recommended, too. If they depend on that water source, they quicker they react, the better.
@rosabayhan81013 күн бұрын

@crystalnobody468913 күн бұрын
When you rake it pull the rake out of the water to pull as much of the stuff you can onto shore. then you can clean it up from shore and treat the pond to stop more from forming.

Looks like eugiena it can be controlled with shade chemicals or algecides but the only way to completely eliminate it would be to drain the pond line it sterilise it and then refill the pond with clean water. Sorry.

Get a long enough piece of rope that will go across the pond, and then get some Styrofoam pipe wraps & put around the rope. I'd get some old towels or some type of material that'll float behind catching anything the Styrofoam missed. It'd take 2 people on each side to walk it down the pond. The only thing being in Texas you might not have the Styrofoam pipe covers, the reason I suggested them is because they're hollow with a cut down the length so you can put it over pipes easily. But in this case the rope will fit into them very easily, and it'd work like a big bulldozer.
