Iirc hololive has an official clipping authorization policy, like it’s allowed as long as it’s not the whole stream. Also, clips serve a second function - it’s the only way to keep up with day to day happenings at this point. If it’s not clipped on youtube, memed/upvoted on reddit, or posted officially on twitter, almost nobody will know.
@secondsein77493 жыл бұрын
Pretty much, as it is rather hard for a lot of people to try and watch their full stream everyday. The clips can be the only thing they could afford (in terms of time) to watch.

@@secondsein7749 I'm guilty of this, I do hop to a stream and sometimes may watch from start to finish but real life obligation calls or I would be busy doing something else, the least I can do sometimes is keep the streams in the background as I do other stuff and listen to their shenanigan.

Let me tell you, from observing the firehose that is the holodex.net recent clips listing, that at this point there are 100 new clips every single day, and most of them are unique. So that already is a pretty decent 4 hours of watch time. Having to pay attention to the subtitles, and not having any idle moments since clippers edit those out, makes it hard to multitask while watching.

The only problem I see with clips is disproportion. If we assume a hypothetical in-house team handling this matter instead, then everybody will hypothetically get translated clips equally. Clippers, however, do not have that kind of obligation. They can do whatever they want. They clip, translate, and subtitle moments from the members who they love. I say in general, translated clips increase proportionate to the number of fans a member has. More fans means more potential clippers in the ranks, and more clips means more ropes to pull in new fans. Besides, I say the potential volume of fan clippers far outshines any kind of output a hypothetical in-house team can churn out - unless it's a team behind *_each_* member, which is rather unrealistic.
@dragoonssrbguilty47193 жыл бұрын
I agree completely, there are times when 4-5 clippers clip the exact same scene of the same Vtuber and others even if the stream was hilarious or funny or something important just don't get a clip and so they lose new pontential fans and people that like those Vtubers end with a very low amount of clips to enjoy and maybe show others.
