Technically some of the modern turboboosts are a kind of overclocking as well, especially on the Ryzen side I think. While it's possible to still squeeze a bit more out then what those systems do themselves, you certainly would have to know what you're doing. For instance by under-volting the CPU, so the CPU auto-clock system gets some more headroom to work with.
@ClokworkGremlin4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. All CPUs these days will automatically upclock themselves when they're running a low-thread load(Turbo-boost), but the --K suffix on Intel chip model numbers means you can also tell the system to normally run at a higher base speed(overclocking). If she's relying on turbo-boost for performance but not bothering with manual overclocking, then she doesn't have a reason to buy an unlocked CPU. [edit]Oh, also, all AMD CPUs are unlocked. They treat it as a standard feature.
@unnamedshadow18664 жыл бұрын
the problem is that the CPU she has goes so hot at stock speeds that you technically can't overclock it. This is why people are moving towards Ryzen, more energy efficient and the amount of Cores means you don't really need to Overclock it.

@@nekotofu_official7665 850 is overkill for nearly any system, even a few years back testing showed the strongest CPUs on the market coupled to paired top end graphics cards only got slightly over 650 watts at max possible load. Far more likely single card systems usually barely broke 450. Shrinking die sizes since then have actually reduced consumption, so current systems would need even less wattage. While running a PSU near it's maximum possible most of the time isn't ideal, a 60 to 70% load factor is acceptable without much efficiency loss, even up to 80% really only produces single digit efficiency losses. Essentially any modern gaming system will likely run without issue on a 750, if it doesn't have dual GPUs 600 is probably plenty, 650 if you want to leave a margin because you think you might overclock. Really anything over 850 nowadays is pure overkill unless it's some crazy unicorn build with the absolute top end parts and a bunch of overclocking on them. If you want to splurg a bit forget the wattage look at the over factors modularity, efficiency ratings, etc use that cash to buy a GOOD lower wattage model rather then stretching to buy a lowest bidder one with more watts then you'll ever need.

yeah some of the reasoning was weird or maybe just her explaining but i still think she ended up with everything correct i have a NH D15 and i love it but its too big it doesn't look as a good as a AIO and its a pain in the but to get the memory in and out in some motherboards you cant even reach the first slot usually you will only use 2nd and 4th so that's not a deal breaker but then you have to reach your hand around the cooler to get the memory still. Custom water cooling is not that much maintenance compared to a AIO so maybe she was wrong on that one but its still a lot of work to get installed the first time. once its working you only need to change the water every year or so if your metals are properly matched and your using clean demineralized water to start with and you have a good clear anti corrosive coolant it would probably be ok to leave it for a couple of years usually you will feel tempted to swap out some part like GPU or memory before your due to change the water and you can just do that at the same time you can also use your old water container to measure out the new water so its a bit easier to measure out the amount of water/coolant you need to add after the first time with a AIO/custom water cooling you also have more room to stick extra fans in the computer compared to a air cooler you could stick a fan on the memory a fan of the VRM a fan on the CPU socket you could even stick a fan blowing down on the GPU if you wanted it to work backwards

@MaxyStorm34 жыл бұрын
To be honest, it would turn out too expensive, if you look at the newer and most powerfull CPUs they don't have integrated video anymore, I will use Ryzen 5 3600x as an example, AMD shortned the distance in their circuits to lower memory lag, but it comes at the cost of some increase in heat as the circuit is really close to each other, but what they did was to make the processor have a bigger area, so having an integrated video takes some part of your processor capability, so it is not viable to make a integrated RTX CPU

@@SkiLayYT Nvidia was (extremely) disappointed in the 20series sales numbers. This is while they already expected ''lower'' sales due to how little the 20series improves over the 10series. The 2080Ti was hurt most as wasn't convincing enough an generational leap so more people stuck the 1080ti compared to how many kept the 980ti after the 10series launched and was more expensive than anticipated for the small incremental improvement. Raytracing adaptation was so abysmal that the 20 series simply didn't seem to have value for their price. DLSS 1.0 was a bad joke and DLSS 1.0+ was a rare unicorn. With the 30series there is DLSS 2.0, however it doesn't require game designers to implement it and has proven performance gains with minimal loss in quality. ( It's considerably better than upscaling a downscale unlike DLSS 1.0 ) DLSS 2.0 ( 4/8K ) when not pausing a game is undifferentiatable to native resolutions according the reviewers. ( when pausing it's even hard to tell unless you're going out of your way )

About the overclock thingy, it just shows how knowledgeable botan is in pc stuff. She's half right. For most intel CPU, in the older times overclock is done by many because the CPU can achieve better performance than the default by doing so. But as time goes on intel keeps on pushing the performance to the point that there's not much people can overclock. Sure they can, but even a 10% improvement is hard to achieve with overclock nowadays. Coupled that with a new feature. Intel CPU, if they are that they have enough power (and the CPU is cool enough) by default will push the performance beyond their "standard" performance rating. Thus why botan says overclocking isn't necessary. It's not that they are automatically doing it, but this auto tuning feature means that there is a lot to tweak yet little to gain from overclockinh

To be completely fair, I have never had bad airflow cause my CPU to overheat in over twenty years. Unless you actively are overclocking your stuff all the time, it's probably not a problem. Just have a decent CPU cooler. Or just dunk the entire machine in oil and get a heat pump.

@theodiscusgaming39094 жыл бұрын
It's an AIO cooler, airflow is irrelevant.
@theodiscusgaming39094 жыл бұрын
@Danish Wistara What I meant is that in an AIO setup, the airflow of the case isn't the limiting factor in most cases. Even in cases like the NZXT H500/H10 with closed off front panels, they perform reasonably well. This is because AIOs are mounted at case fan mounting points where they can intake fresh air from outside or exhaust their air from the case, unlike air coolers which operate completely inside the case and need additional fans to intake/exhaust air.

It's crazy how fast technology moves. This video is only 2 months old and intel CPUs have now been objectively surpassed in every way by Ryzen and now we are waiting on the release of the RX 6900 XT which is supposed to match the 3090 for $500 less.
@bojaidin4 жыл бұрын
Apparently even the 6800xt surpasses the 3090 in some cases with SAM enabled. Pretty wild!
@Kortexual4 жыл бұрын
The RTX 3090 replaces the Titan class GPUs from the last gens, so yeah you definitely don't need it for gaming. An RTX 3070 or 3080 will do you just fine, heck, the higher end 10 and 20 series cards still hold up just fine today. I'm just wondering how AMD's RDNA 2 will do against Ampere though. PCIE 3.0 probably won't bottleneck the new GPUs at all either, so 10th gen intel is a safe choice. Although with the introduction of RTX IO, that might change in the future due to the sheer amount of data it pushes, but the implementation of that in games is gonna be slow. For CPUs, AMD is definitely king in heavy CPU loads like rendering with the amount of cores and threads you can buy on the cheap from them, the Ryzen 3900X gives you insane value. For pure gaming though, the 10900K is definitely still on the top. Also for the auto-OC thing Botan was talking about, yeah, turbo boost exists but that isn't the same as an all-core overclock either. For example, the 10900K can boost up to a maximum of 5.3GHz, but only on a single core. Its all-core turbo is only 4.9GHz. If you were to overclock, you could push the all-core turbo up to 5.3GHz or even higher depending on how well your CPU overclocks, how much voltage you feed it, and how good your cooling solution is. Some motherboard vendors do let you enable an auto-OC mode in the BIOS, but most of the time it feeds your CPU too much voltage, which produces too much heat. I think a beefy air cooler like Noctua's NH-D15 could definitely handle a stock 10900K though, there's really no need to go with an AIO unless it's for looks or you're trying to push an extreme overclock, but that wouldn't be viable for daily use anyways. I also really want to see Botan try and do hard-line water cooling. I want to see how that ends up lol.
@ANDELE30254 жыл бұрын
I mean, for most games the 700+ cards are still functional once you hit the overkill (and usually quite unoptimized) shaders n shadows down a notch or two. And id say 3600 gives better value than 3900X, half the price for merely 6-8% better non rendering performance and solidly better overclocking energy efficiency.

I recently purchased an RTX 2080 ti for $1200 AUD in Australia. I kinda don't get it why she rushed buying that new i9 and mobo for it this early. Could have waited for October/November when new AMD cpus are out and then decide whether go Intel or AMD tbh. Even if she wouldn't pick AMD I'd say Intel could have cut prices after Ryzen 4000 release to compete better for customers and then buy that i9 - same with NVIDIAs stuff regarding AMD's gpu offerings. But it's all judging from money saving standpoint after all.
@elisirfly4 жыл бұрын
@@koayty Does make sense if time is more valuable than money for her as it's the time of the year with biggest demand for PC parts too. Intel vs AMD in not much of a diffrence but imo it's a bit wasteful not going for cheaper 3900X now on a X570 mobo and later upgrade to 4900X for example with added benefits of PCIe 4.0 (only Intel doesnt have it now) if we're talking about high end optimal setup. As for money she makes I doubt it would be $50k as holo vtuber only gets about 35% (30% YT 35% HL) of SC money so maybe $17k max from first moth. Still, that's quite a lot of money.
@anzu0o2114 жыл бұрын
@@elisirfly Money for her isn't the problem, its all about time/performance. Even when the new AMD cpus are out and it deems better than the intel she can easily change into it but I highly doubt so since Intel dominates the Japanese markets right now. Edit: Also to add up to the income, all hololive vtubers also receives a monthly salary from the company so 17k$ for first month is still on the low side as an estimation.
