Demon's BanquetEnglish lyrics Where it's good to eat, What’s tasty and what isn't, I don't know at all. It's a recently decided society after all Buddha is always pouring water.(1) Having restraint is good manners, isn't it? Tempting this demon's heart (2) Please go ahead without reservation Ah, that wide open mouth The banquet, banquet begins on Monday(3) What a waste, cut it once, Eat only what you like Which is it acceptable to fold? A white talisman or a black talisman? Shall we bet on one leaf? The difference between life and death is paper-thin Hanging on Buddha's spiderweb(4) No being late, go out now Whispers in hell's voice To be off the right track isn't that bad Unexpectedly, this banquet ends on this Sunday evening, this evening (5) This banquet is on full swing Don't fall until you're falling Ah, ah, iya, iya Spin around and around, spread it around and around, Ah, ah, iya, iya Spin around and around, spread it around and around, Ah, ah, iya, iya Spin around and around, spread it around and around, Ah, ah, iya, iya, Spin around and around, spread it around Ah, that wide open mouth This banquet, banquet starts on Monday What a waste, cut it once Eat only what you like Don't fall until you're falling (1) Pouring water is part of Buddhism's cleansing rituals (2) "Heart" as in one's interior (3) In the original, the singer says "monday" but the lyrics are funnily in Kanji (4) Probably a reference to Akutagawa's short story "A spider thread" where a sinner in hell is gifted by Shakyamuni one chance out of the Pool of Blood in hell as he had one good deed in his life: not killing a spider. Thus, a spider thread appears as a way out of the well, but the sinner, more interested in his own salvation and not the others who are following behind, fails to make it out as the thread breaks. (5) Same as the Monday lyrics, English pronunciation but written in Kanji
