This is electro. The music that has hijacked the term electro (house) is basically a modern interpretation of acid house. There actually are house mixes of electro songs (like Hashim's "Al-Naafiysh", for example) that would qualify for the term more readily. It puzzles me why people think that using the wrong term for something does anything besides create confusion. No, Deadmau5 is not electro-- I doubt even he would agree with you on that.

Let me put it this way: if you are in a record store, are you equally satisfied if you hear Cybotron or Mandroid as you are if you hear Riva Starr or Fuck Offf? Do you think they sound similar enough to be called the same style? Now compare some of these guys to later acid house guys and you might start to see the crossover. That's why I just go with New Acid House, or something like that.
