This video really illustrates how untrue to life all other MK adaptions have been. In fact, all other combat films and TV series I have ever seen. In real life, I actually believe that human beings appointed to defend our world would actually talk and act this way; kicking stones and falling on their asses, because truth is more embarrassing than fiction. That's because they had to keep it continuity with the movies for some reason and Johnny Cage was killed off in Mortal Kombat Annihilation. That's also why there's a good Sub-Zero in this series.

I think it's more that this abomination was based on MK3, thus maskless Sub Zero and Stryker (and Nightwolf), everything being some nebulous wasteland, Raiden being barred from direct interference other than advise etc.... with sprinklings of the movies. At least in the original versions of MK3, Johnny Cage was canonically killed (for now). Later versions of MK3 had him in there, as some sort of Crow esque "do good before your limited extra time is up" deal or something.

At the time this was released Johnny Cage was removed from MK for a short time, due to the fact that Daniel Pesina (Stuntman who played Johnny Cage in the games) promoted BloodStorm (a fighting game that was advertised to be the game that was going to kill off the Mortal Kombat series) in an ad, dressed up as Johnny Cage. SO that's why he's not in this show or MK3.

The only episodes I think anyone would recommend are the 5th, 9th, 11th and 13th episodes. The 5th touches on the relationship between Sub-Zero and Smoke. The 9th is the return of Shang Tsung, the 11th is the first ever appearance of Quan Chi and the last has a major animation bump, but sadly ends in a cliffhanger
