Shnootz - Reaction Video (Duran Duran - Confessions in the Afterlife)

I'm back with another Duran Duran reaction from their 2023 album Danse Macabre, and this time we listen to the final track, the wonderful and Arcadia-inspired "Confession in the Afterlife." Seriously, I really enjoyed this one, in particular Simon's vocal performance, Dom's guitar-work, and the evocative sonic atmosphere. I actually thought that Confessions in the Afterlife could be about standing at the Pearly Gates where we think we have to confess our shortcomings only to find that Love is all there is. Will it really matter when we are no longer in a place where we could make a different choice? I also feel it speaks to why we need to treat everyone with the same level of love and respect before it is too late. The living will never hear our confession if we fail to address it before we leave this dimension. Brilliant song.

Thank you Matt, Love ya mate 😊 This track just washes right through you, takes a hold and grips you tight. Duran have a way of doing that to me! Love this song, best on the album by some way in my opinion. Now maybe just maybe we will have Duran’s album Reportage out by the end of the year. Nick has said on two occasions that’s the timeline he wants but DD time and most importantly Andy’s health and DD role for the album to finish and hopefully tour to follow will be important to be right for him and Duran.

This was an early favourite when I got the album - I kind of see it as "The Universe Alone"'s darker twin, here pondering if there is an afterlife, is it like a completely fresh start where there is no judgement and your deeds in life no longer matter. Basically the opposite of what many religions try to convince you of. Much as I enjoyed the covers, the three new tracks were the best things about this album.

This is the perfect song to end this Halloween theme album. They have started with a kind of a storytelling on typical Hallowen customs and traditions and have ended with a mystical journey in the afterlife, I really love when Simon’s lyrics dig deep “, I mean these lyrics belong to his and only. “Heathen eyes painted on iron, See everything you leave behind,Once beholden, always forgotten Upon this blameless sea of never mind’’ Thanks for your reaction Matt!

Hola Matt, si bien los créditos de la guitarra para esta canción le pertenecen a Dom Brown, siento que detrás de todo está Warren, todas esas texturas armónicas que se ejecutan detrás de la voz de Simón, no las podía hacer alguien más que Andy y Warren, sin embargo, Siento en mi interior que es Warren. He escuchado todos los albumes de Duran Duran, y el único guitarrista que transmitia melancolía era Warren. Puedo entender que el que haya terminado la canción es Dom, dado que Warren está pasando un tiempo de instroapección demaciaso tóxico el cual no le permite despegar de esa dorma autodestructiva que lleva.
