Undoubtedly one of the best songs of Sade. Loaded with emotion and a musical rollercoaster because of all the stops and massive moments.

When Sade's first album Diamond Life came out when I was 15 I played it to death. I've loved her eversince. This track off the second album is one of my favourites. I recommend you watch her perform this at Live Aid. Her vocal is almost identical. You can also watch the stunning creature that is Sade.

Thanks again Matt for your extremely interesting reactions! Great! This was a great time in the middle of the eighties and Sade sort of framed my time as a PhD student (in Chemistry!!). My supervisor brought in this Post Doc from Britain of Pakistani/Belgian decent and he brought some of his vinyls with him from England and, my God, did we listren to Sade all night and analysed the texts and longed for the right girls, not bothering too much about tomorrow's test tubes.

This song is so good. As a 10/11-year-old I was only interested in pop music but I loved Sade from the first moment.

Oh! Honestly, when I suggested this one I didn't remember it was this good. ❤ I haven't heard it in many years and I had completely forgotten most of it. The instrumentation, indeed! So rich! That was a surprise to my ears. ☺ I didn't even remember the sax. 😁 I don't really like jazz and brass, but somehow I enjoy all that here. I usually focus on the vocals, that's why I love Sade in the first place, but I also didn't remember how good she sings this, expressing all the emotions so well, both with a softer and restrained tone and then some stronger and powerful vocal moments. I got goosebumps at 7:16! I also noticed she doesn't sing the same lines in the same way, there are constant variations that give it an improvised / jamming feel too, like you pointed out regarding the sax. It all has a live feel, so I get it perfectly that you felt like you were at a jazz club watching the performance. Haha, again: always beware of false endings. 😉
