Always loved this movie. There have been so many variations on this basic plot, but I've always been surprised there's not been a direct remake. It's such a fun thriller! My wife and I watch this every couple of years. We're not old people, either, lol. We just love old cinema, and we both love Vincent Price.

I love Vincent Price and old(er) cinema too, I like movies from the US, France, Sweden, Italy, Britain, Japan, Europe, etc. I'm gonna be 50yrs. next week and I kinda feel the same when I was 20, I got wiser though, learned a lot from life, and aren't as excessive anymore. And I'm glad to be were I'm at now. Getting older ain't so bad after all.. :)

No wonder Vincent's voice was in demand for narration. He had great diction and a calm, soothing voice which always sounded like he was ready to go quietly insane. lol He was the ultimate "dignified" villain. Thanks so much, loved it !!!

Vincent is one of my favorite voice actors in Old Time Radio. He probably did five times more Voice work and radios any good in Motion Pictures. He tells stories and paints mental is like no other! This plot was remade to good effect on "Tales from the Crypt" called "Mute Witness to Murder". Vincent Price was so charming, that even when he was a "bad guy", you couldn't help but root for him. Except when he was threatening The Brady Bunch boys. "By the way... how's Margaret?" Absolutely love the sofa she was sitting on ;) And the other lovely scenery and interiors. Nicely shot.

I have to say that this film was a Hell of a lot better than I thought that it would be - I read the premise and assumed that it would be more of a melodrama, but it actually ended up being quite a neat little piece of Film Noir. Also, Vincent Price gives a great, nuanced performance and its interesting to see him 'sans moustache', and before he was an established horror actor.
