I read the other day about L'Oreal taking over Byredo and I was sooo dissapointed😑Another good indie house is wiped into oblivion.. I mean sure, Byredo might have not been to everyone's liking, but I personally liked the minimalistic concept and I find most of their fragrances easy to wear and likeable..but now I am gutted😑 L'Oreal is like the opposite of the Myth of King Midas🤣🤣 whatever this conglomerate puchases does not turn to gold but to shite🤣🤣

Precisely my thought. It's a house with rather bad performing fragrances so for me it's no big deal. They seem to market themselves as modern and fashionable, but in reality, most of the fragrances are not worth the money. So to it it's good riddance.

Very interesting perspective on De Los Santos! Especially your double-down on mint. There's definitely a freshness but it's a morning dew freshness. If that makes sense? With De Los Santos, there's a ruggedness outside of your typical clean styles of Byredos! I like it a lot but it keeps falling down my list of ones to get. Perhaps not the time of year? I think it's very versatile seasonly though. It kind of reminds me of the Portrait of A Lady base notes? Love ya, Seb. Thank you!

Reminds me of another brand that I loved so much, although it's a make up house. BECCA was taken over by Estee Lauder, and everthing went downhill from there, until it was finally closed in 2021. It was such a beautiful brand with great products.

Honestly, I think L'Oreal really wanted and needed something to go against EL's Le Labo. Byredo and Le Labo are both easy-to-love niche brands, and while expensive, not ostentatiously so. Plus, I think their target customer has a lot of overlap. With that said, I wonder if L'Oreal is going to do more with the color cosmetics and hair care (hair mists). BTW, Rein de Nuit is the other Night Veils. I have the old style bottle of it and it's 🥰🥰🥰

I really hope the owner of Byredo really hammered out the terms of the buyout contract (if that’s even possible to do with L’Oréal?…). We shall see. I ordered a 100 ml of Blanche (hands down my favorite clean scent) today to guarantee I have a pre-L’Oréal bottle. I’m so interested in testing out Vanille Antique; it sounds amazing! Byredo was my first niche brand when I started my journey into the world of niche perfumes, so it will always have a special place in my heart. My favorites are Bibliotheque, Bal d'Afrique and Mojave ghost, but I like others too, only that now I can't justify the price for what they offer. From the Night Veils collection, I like Sellier and I am curious to test Vanille antique, but it is not currently available in my city. As for L'oreal's acquisition, I don't know what to say, but I have the impression that they will become something 'commercial' and the quality will diminish. It's sad to see something like this, so I guess I'll have to stock up well in advance. I don't remember when you made the last video about vanilla, but could you make an updated one in which to include the latest news? Thank you!

During my military years I cooked inthe dorm using an electric wok & my neighbor had her man to cut me a block of cedarwood as a cooking base. Yes I can imagine the aroma of Vanilla with Woods!😂 I'm currently looking for my Palo Santo to smudge with. If I had Open Sky, I would have definitely sprayed it as my scent of the day. It actually sounds like Edibles as described.😏

Atelier cologne is actually launching a bunch of new fragrances in Europe (France.) A five fragrances collection named "Haute Couture, Collection Rare" and it doesn't look bad. (There are ways to make it deliver to other countries using companies such as colis expat or others.)

And sad too as Byredo from the beginning is something as unusual as a cutting edge Swedish niche brand… to be swallowed up by L’Oréal is sad indeed… I also wonder about Atelier Cologne as they pretty much have no distribution now at all outside of France… their own website do no longer ship to any other European countries… so I wonder about that too… they have some of my staple fragrances that I use pretty much everyday… Also what fun is a niche brand if they all are owned by the same large dragons…

Maybe it's time for an update on this? Since ultimately L'Oreal did not acquire Byredo. Instead, Puig bought a majority stake in the brand. Puig is based in Spain and also owns Penhaligon's. Everyone still mistakenly thinks L'Oreal now owns Byredo, which is not true, luckily :D

Actually it's not under L'Oreal it's now under PUIG. But I haven't purchased anything under Puig yet. Who knows though anything is possible once a brand is under a big conglomerate.

I got 6ml of De Los Santos, and I don't think I can finish even 1ml. It smells like Commodity Book or Santal 33 to me. Those fragrances are ones I have an immediate aversion to.

Maybe Byredo was suffering in a saturated market...I have always felt they were overpriced - for a minimalistic fragrance house. Loreal is the plague of cosmetic brands. they did the exact same thing with the Body Shop in 2006 and ran the brand to the ground then sold it off.

How unfortunate 😕 Byredo is a long time love of mine and easily in my top 5 favorite houses. Unlike seemingly the rest of the world, their fragrances perform very well for me and I find them to be unique and lovely (Jérôme Epinette is one of my fave noses). I hope L'Oreal does not utterly destroy them. Might explain why they're pushing cosmetics so much now, though.

I heard about this takeover a few days ago. I own quite a few Byredo perfumes but most of them are their original scents. Then they started churning out one after the other. They were also very pricey way before other brands became so pricey. I lost interest in them in recent years.
