Sooo 11:45… thanks for mentioning that I had a sympathectomy in 2018, and ever since I’ve had really high blood pressure readings (like hypertensive crisis high)… but i felt perfectly normal aside from the readings. I also developed tinnitus around this time. Also immediately after the sympathectomy I had this nagging discomfort in my upper left back/trap/rhomboid. I struggled with that discomfort for 4.5 years up until a couple weeks ago, after really leveraging a lacrosse and tai chi ball, and trying to release the tension in my upper left back. After seemingly resolving the discomfort, my blood pressure readings returned to normal. I also have a heart condition that started about 10 years ago, and palpitations (that led to the sympathectomy) where I get v-tach typically while exercising or doing anything that requires adrenaline. I believe it’s all related to something irritating my sympathetic/parasympathetic nerves. I also noticed addressing my back discomfort has helped a lot with my tinnitus.

Hi dr Ed i live in Australia and i have been diagnosed with Diffuse Idiopathic Hyperostosis D.I.S.H. I have bone spurs on my spine so my lower ribs are extremely tight and i have trouble getting a deep breath. Do you treat people with this condition i am 54.
@Dr.EdMcLaughlin
@Dr.EdMcLaughlin 27 күн бұрын
Short answer: Yes! Long answer: The key word in that diagnosis is Idiopathic(ie: we are a bunch of idiots and have no idea why it happens). I can tell you why it happens, and its not idiotic. Injuries combined with postural stresses cause the body to bolster and solidify areas of mechanical abuse/hypermobility. This stiffening/bolstering now causes a significant decrease in overall mobility, hence now you notice difficulty taking a deep breath (hypomobility). In order to have excessive stresses/hypermobiliity placed on certain vertebrae, by definition, there must be other vertebrae that are doing less than their normal motion(hypomobility). Its these very areas that must be cared for and focused on to restore some semblance of normalcy. Unfortunately, most practitioners are too zoomed in on the Systemic Hyperostosis to be able to see all the surrounding healthy areas, let alone see their non-function as the cause, and thus only possible avenue for restoration.

This is a more focused on allowing the body to relax and open it up so it gradually takes the proper position over time rather than trying to force it into a position while the surrounding tissue is still tight which could be more likely to cause regression
