I am always impressed with Rebecca's no nonsense approach to just getting on with it. And, a wow catch of lobsters - nice one!

Always enjoy your videos, like to see you haul in those big lobsters. A little of the clean and cook shows at the end shows how you partake of the bounty of the sea.

Morning Team Troy! On the ball this morning! Another good update. Nice haul of Pollock, Macker, Lobsters & Crab. Looked like the weather wasn't quite as bad as you feared, although a little lumpy. Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍

Im trying to understand the fishing industry over there and how it differs from what i see in America, based on several youtube channels, including yours. I see small to medium sized watercraft, pots that are all of different construction and style, and pots all geared more to generalization rather than made to catch specific things like crab or lobster. But i heard you mention "commercial lines" in this video. Are there other types of fishing there than what i see you doing? And how do fisherman like yourself dispose of your catch? I like the look of the open top pots i see you using, btw. They look more like something a recreational fisherman might use over here, though. Which brings up another point. I don't see any recreational watercraft in any of the channels ive been watching. Are there any, and im just missing it?
@Trojwaterman Жыл бұрын
There are different types of pots. I use large open entrances a lot of the time so I can be diverse as a small boat has to be to survive. Larger boats will often use commercial lines in strings totaling 600 pots but we use up to 30. There are many recreational fishermen as you need a licence to sell fish they can be identified by the ports reg letter/s followed by some numbers at the stern and the bow of the boat. Small licensed boats here will often sell locally and larger boats take the catch to France or the UK

In those areas which are heavily potted I assume some of the under sized lobsters might be caught and returned many times in a season. Do you get individuals you recognise again and again?
@Trojwaterman Жыл бұрын
Yes sometimes. In the bay you do. Further out the lobsters do move around more.

We have floatation jackets they will help keep you warm in the cold water. But there are life jackets onboard as well.

Personal note. I think after 40 years of the EU raping UK waters it's going to be some time before those "large" pollack & cod are anywhere to be seen. Nice job with both the traps & rods. Thanx for posting.
@Trojwaterman Жыл бұрын
You don't see the reefs full of pollack these days You also used to see so many tiny pollack in the shallows but again just not there anymore not in any serious numbers.

@@Trojwaterman That's exactly what I mean. I watch a lot of UK fishing vids. Everyone is saying the same thing other than those working Ling & Conga. There are no more large fish, or fish in any numbers, left is the UK waters. I see them making a small comeback. But it's going to take years for recouperation. You folks have my best wishes.

Same here in Cornwall west country massive factory ship's killing everything from the EU sad times the government let us down badly on the 12 miles restrictions it's only 6 miles now greed by bankers getting these ship's made quoters are a joke have you seen all the small under size fish coming in to EU port's should have done what Australia did and embargoed that factory ship for 5years because the Aussie fisherman said that there would be nothing left and so put a lot of pressure on the government as they could change the vote lots of people go fishing millions of us it needs to be done now if necessary put a pound each into a fund and use the money to challenge the government legally to put a stop to the rapeing of the seas

Troy, I don't wish to offend but, in the interest of your public image and Rebecca's feelings, I do feel that, on occasions, you are a little curt in the way you address her.🤔
@Trojwaterman Жыл бұрын
In the conditions we fish, rocks, tides weather. etc things have to be said loudly clearly and direct for the safety of all involved. There is no malicious intent we both have a great time out there. We only film our day on the boat nothing is scripted.
@rebeccanorth6349 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your concern but be reassured that if I felt in any way offended by how I was addressed I simply would not be out on the boat. I have every faith that Troy acts in whatever way he feels best to keep us both safe in what are sometimes quite challenging conditions where prompt response is paramount to our safety.

It's strange how people are so easily offended if you work on a fishing boat being quiet and polite sometimes is not the way when a course shout gets the message across.its a dangerous environment so you need to get people moving or disasters may occur very quickly .....that's me being as polite as I can manage....🤪
