At the $400-$450 the SYX is going for used they are an amazing deal. Heck as of recent I have seen the SYX handle brittle paint better than the amp.
@Sethnewport3 жыл бұрын
This. The Syx is substantially cheaper, and shoots better. Until the AMP can handle tournament paint, it's not as good as a Syx. End of discussion.
@Dave-wy5nq3 жыл бұрын
There's a lot to discuss in here, but the most important one is price: the Syx in this video is $599, not $699. That makes it 1/3 cheaper than an AMP. The $699 Syx comes with a 3-back barrel kit, ands those backs are available for the other model separately. The fact that you can even have this conversation when one marker is 1/3 less money than the other one says a lot about what a great value the Syx is. On a side note, you all mentioned in there that the AMP would be way more efficient than the Syx. It isn't even a little more efficient. Just sayin...

What were prices when you wrote this? AMP has never been 1200 dollar... AS OF RIGHT NOW AMP is 900 (highest price afaik), and SYX is 700.
@Dave-wy5nq2 жыл бұрын
Ya, bad number. At the time it was $400 cheaper than the Syx...my prices were accurate, but my % was wrong. The point remains valid. The AMP is the worst mid-range marker by a wide margin, and wouldn't win a real heads-up comparo with a Syx, ever.

How do you make a shocker better? Add the gamma core.
@robjohn48423 жыл бұрын
I know this will get me some hate....but I actually prefer the Syx. It feels more solid, durable and rugged in my hands. Even the build quality of the syx felt better, which says a lot considering its made by Empire and is at a cheaper price point. Both have a shot feel that I enjoy and both shoot paintballs down an aluminum tube just fine. Plus, i've seen the Syx going for 550-650 brand new in some corners. That's much better bang for your buck. For a $900 marker, I was very disappointed in the overall quality of the Amp and I feel like it was a step back in this regard compared to the XLS platform. Even the engine had a cheapness to it that I can't quite put my finger on. The twist knob for the engine can be slick and difficult to turn when covered in paint or if your fingers are oily. The front grip has a habit of sliding down a little too easily. There is a visible gap between the frame and body if you hold it at the right correct angle on the passenger side (at least mine had that issue). I hate saying all this because the CVO is in my Top 3 markers, I loved that thing. :( I think the only way I would really recommend the Amp is if you are very determined to have the mech version of the Amp and hate the PE or CVO options. I hope many of these quality issues will be addressed as time goes on, and maybe my opinion on it will change in the future.

I disagree with ease of maintenance. Normal maintenance isn’t taking the frame off. All the mini, axe, and syx engines are easier to lube than a spool valve. Pull the engine out. Pull off bolt and spring. Lube. Reassemble. Just my opinion though. To each their own. Thanks for the video.

@@RagingBacon916 I've gone years without ever pulling a grip frame off. There's no need, unless the milling doesn't quite fit and you get paint spray inside the frame, which I've heard the AMP has an issue with as well although I haven't witnessed the frame gap personally.

I highly disagree with this. I own a Syx 1.5 and after seeing my 2 friends shooting their Amps I have to say this. They easily have broken more paint than I have with both the Syx and Amp running stock bolts and have heard similar things from other players on the field. My suggestion if you’re going to spend that much money for an Amp then it’s better to buy a 170r in my opinion. And if you want the 170r to be softer on paint buy the Super Stanchy gamma core. The 170r is great with the stock bolt. I was breaking 1 or 2 balls per day but with Stanchy bolt I haven’t broken a single paint in my gun yet. Certainly with that set up it’s way softer on paint and reliable than the Amp. Also softer than the Syx but equal on reliability

Right, they need to make a vanquish 2 with a new asa on/off switch, make it lighter but built better with nice hard ware and make it toolless. Is it that hard fr? Not to be a jerk but when you say things like "I suspect it's going to be a little back heavy" I have to assume you've never used the gun which makes me question the review. You may be correct but at least set it up fully to know for sure. Maintenance and disassembly are not the same thing. The axe is one of the simplest and easiest guns on the market to maintain. It's not the easiest to disassemble but honestly you shouldn't be taking your grip frame off regularly anyway. The axe shoots brittle paint, the amp already has a fatal flaw in the design which means it's not handling that paint well. The oring mod is not a fix, it's a band aid covering a problem. I wouldn't buy an AMP until they fix it unless you never plan on using brittle paint, which is hard to plan.
@Sethnewport3 жыл бұрын
100% disagree. I own an XLS, love it, but the AMP is not better then a Syx. Setting aside that a used Syx can be had hundreds of dollars cheaper then an AMP, it just does not handle paint as well as a SYX does. Shocker has already released an 'update' to change some orings in the bolt system to induce more drag, and thus, slow the bolt down. This is a band aid fix for design flaw in the bolt that causes it to have poor paint handling. For a marker that costs this much to not be able tournament paint is a joke. If I wanted a marker that shoots like an AMP, I'd buy a used 170R cheaper, and it would work better. Totally get you guys are trying to sell some AMPs, but it's not worth it until they become cheaper, and they fix the bolt acceleration problem.
@MrBottlecapBill3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it's a ball stack issue. Too much rolling around in the breech. Bolt speed can go pretty high without issues if the ball stack is nicely upright. If not, then you need to worry about bolt speed because you're smashing the next paintball in line which is hanging down into the breech. I don't have an amp though, so I can't really test it out.

I bought a Shocker AMP. Before that I had a dye and Empire Axe. The Empire Axe was one of the best markers I used. I used to play tournaments with it. Empire guns are the most reliable out there in my opinion. You don't need a $1,500 gun to compete and we shouldn't normalize that. The shocker amp is a better gun than the syx. At the same time I wouldn't mind having a syx on my hands, in fact I wish Empire would bring out a better $900 gun to compete against Shocker and PE. If Empire brings a better shooting, lower psi than the syx it will be a no brainer for people to buy that over any shocker, dye or even maybe PE. In conclusion both guns are amazing and can be used for tournaments. Empire guns are more reliable and require less maintenance.

Empire/GI is totally missing out on the mech market. So many Axes/Axe2.0/Axe Pro/Mini GS in the wild, if just one model offered a mech frame, wow. But then again, they were not engineered with the simple frame change of the Amp, so definitely not as easy to produce or implement. I know my Axe Pro 2015 would have a mech frame, if offered.
@TheInflicted2 жыл бұрын
There's no feasible way to adapt the Mini or its derivative designs to mechanical operation. Dwell time is just too key to the gun's velocity and efficiency and a mechanically-timed dwell (a small pneumatic pilot valve?) is too complicated, expensive, and bulky to implement.
