I vagualy remember an Interview where Oprah Winfrey interviewed Nelson Mandela and she asked him what would he like to say to Americans and one of the things he suggested was "Humility". I am glad to see you are still trying to get that message across. I travelled around the USA mostly Southern States on Greyhound buses in 1981 and the lack of knowledge of the rest of humanity and mountains of hubris meant there wasn't much in the way of humility. But Hispanic and African Americans were more humble as their sense of community gave them a better perspective on what strengthens a community. Back in 1981 I also felt Apartheid was still prevalent in the USA even though the Whites Only Signs weren't around.

Great cover?

@@rafaelorantes7185 ~ I believe it was great. It was different, but without losing the original composition. Anyone can record a cover just like the original recording. It takes creativity to redo it, and make it their own at the same time...

I agree. I love both versions, both went #1. Bananarama’s version was an 80’s dance club interpretation of the original. The same and yet different. I can listen to either over and over.

I still have this on a Ktel mix track vinyl 12". It has been used lately to hawk women's razors, so you've been hearing it there.

This song was on the radio all thought the 70's. It was just one of those songs that never became boring or over played.

One of the first songs I learned to play on the bass, but we did Nirvana's version.

A goddess on a mountain top Was burning like a silver flame The summit of beauty and love And Venus was her name She's got it Yeah, baby, she's got it Well, I'm your Venus I'm your fire, at your desire Well, I'm your Venus I'm your fire, at your desire Her weapons were her crystal eyes Making every man mad Black as the dark night she was Got what no one else had, whoa! She's got it Yeah, baby, she's got it Well, I'm your Venus I'm your fire, at your desire Well, I'm your Venus I'm your fire, at your desire She's got it Yeah, baby, she's got it Well, I'm your Venus I'm your fire, at your desire Well, I'm your Venus I'm your fire, at your desire
