SHOCKING COST of Electric Meter Hookup on CAMPSITE |

In this video we travel up through the snow capped mountains from Perth to Braemar in Scotland. I take you on a campsite tour of Braemar Caravan Park, we go for a lovely walk with our cocker spaniel where he flushes out some pheasants. We also find out the real cost of campsite electric, as we have a prepaid meter card for the first time. We pay for the pitch and buy a electric meter card, any electric you do not end up using is refunded to you. Quite a few campsites are now using this method due to the cost of living crisis. We found this actually worked out very well for us, as we have a diesel heater in our campervan and a compressor fridge.

This campervan allows us the freedom of travelling in all seasons, we actually do most of our travelling in the Autumn/Winter as I have lupus disease | SLE | We stay on campsites & caravan touring parks, Aires & wild camp out in nature. We like to walk | hike with our cocker spaniel dog "Charlie" taking in breathtaking scenery of the countryside and the coast. There is something so magical about driving through the mountains and tourist areas in a campervan. Buying local produce to take back and cook in the campervan, or stopping at an independent shop for coffee and cake helping to support the local economy. Hi em, lovely video from both of you. The price you payed for electricity on that site I would us just electric and save you gas. We’ve payed £6 a night and in our little caravan you just can’t use that much. Then I’ve seen huge caravans with electric cars plugged in and heaters in their huge awnings when their not even in. It’s only right you should pay for what you us and not subsidise every one else thank you both. 👏👏👏👏👍

Hi Graham, after our experience on this site, I absolutely agree, we don’t use much electric in the van 🚐 So it doesn’t seem fare like you say as other use everything, leaving awning lights on all night for example 😵‍💫 Obviously there’s just two of us, so it worked out well for us, especially with our heating set up. I don't know why but I keep getting adverts part of the way through your videos. Very strange. Good to see you getting more views now Em. You deserve it. That's really cheap electric for a campsite. The pitch sounded slightly on the expensive side, but if it's in a really good location and the lecky is that cheap, then it's not a bad price at all.

I think it's fare to pay for what you use. Not been in the game for a while, but there was a maximum resale price set by Ofgem, so you couldn't be overcharged for electricity. Great video, thanks for sharing ATB Mark & Coral

Hi Julie 👋 Yep Charlie had a ball 😂 The meter really surprised us tbh. but our setup is fairly good for offgrid camping & we have learned to be quite savvy with electrical items in the van 🚐😁 The hotel is beautiful Julie, it’s called The Fife Arms and it’s in Braemar Village, I took some footage which will be on part 2. As much as it looked beautiful 😍 I still think I’d rather stay in my van 🚐😂 Especially with having Charlie, he’d cause havoc 🤣 It’s a lot of camping tokens for the price ofone night there 🤣 The site was lovely & the drive up, loved it there 👌 Thanks for watching, Em 💜

Good video Em. Liked the explanations. Agree nice people on reception for 3 nights they advised £10 a night. Got £6 back at the end of stay.Not too bad as it got a bit chilly at night but probably not as chilly as when you were there. We were there at the beginning of April 2023.

A great way to charge for electricity, even if at the normal home kWh rate. A fixed rate has to cover the once a week van that charges everything they own in one night! I appreciate the hookup infrastructure costs money to install and safely maintain as well. Glad you got a bargain

That's a great way to pay for electric, as long as the pitch price is reasonable, on priced pitch with electric people take the micky (a case if I've payed for it so I'm going to use it), if they have to pay for what they use may be they will be more conviderate in the use of electricity

Which we found very “shocking” as we expected it to be a lot more than it was. The thumbnail is a bit of fun & the title reflects our shock at the cost of the electric & usage.
